This desert has different landscape in different areas that it covers. Dry valleys, salt flats and massive sand dunes are some of its features. This desert is home to 90 bird species, 170 species of large and small mammals, and over 100 reptile species. The Kalahari Desert supports shrubby grasses, thorny shrubs and the Acacia tree. The wind-shaped sand of this desert is due to the erosion of soft stone formations. The Namib Desert has the highest sand dunes in the world. Although, this desert has the most inhospitable conditions there still are animals and plants surviving here.
