Avid travelers and hard core nature lovers, Anuj and his wife have traveled to almost all parts of the country. Anuj chose Kerala for his next adventure as he had always wanted to go there and his package included his transfers, accommodation, breakfast, and sightseeing. Here, Anuj happily unfolds the details of his trip to his dream destination, and how his adventures and experiences there turned out to be better than those dreams…

Trip type: A couple on an adventure!
Duration: 7 night 8 days
Budget: INR 35,900/- (land package)
Destination: Kerala
Inclusions: Accommodation, meals: breakfast, airport transfers, sightseeing, cab transfers

I had always wanted to go to Kerala with my lifelong travel companion- my wife. And I had already started feeling closer to that dream as soon as I laid my eyes on TravelTriangle’s facebook advertisement for the same. Though I have never measured my experiences in terms of money, I was still attracted to the reasonably low price they quoted for my trip to Kerala. I went through with the booking process and soon me and my wife were off to this coastal heaven.

Day 1: Arrival at Kochi & the drive to Munnar through winding pastures of tea plantations

We were overwhelmed by the beauty of Kochi once we landed here, and soon took off to Munnar stopping by on the way to admire the waterfalls of Athirapally.

Day 3: A joyous road trip to Thekkady and an evening of inexhaustible entertainment

We bid farewell to Munnar and left for Thekkady. Before we reached our hotel in Thekkady, our driver took us to see a very engaging magic show in the city, where we made bookings so that we could enjoy more of it in the evening as well.

We reached the hotel at 2 pm and forgot about our aching backs once we stepped inside the beautiful, inviting, utterly natural interiors of the Jungle Park Resort. In the evening, we wandered about the local market where I pampered my wife by buying her some traditional goods before proceeding to the same theatre for the ritual art and magic show we had booked.

Day 4: Exploring the wild realms of Kerala and a boat ride in Periyar Lake

We took off to the Periyar National Park at 6 am in the morning to experience the wild side of Kerala. Among various animals in the park, we were most intrigued by the pack of elephants we saw near the lake. The elder lot of these majestic creatures were feeding near the lake while their little ones splashed each other in the water and entertained us with their naughty tricks.

Next, we went for a relaxing boating excursion on the lake here, which turned out to be one of the best experiences me and my wife had had for a long time. We had never experienced something so exotic and blissful before in all our years of traveling in the country.

After an utterly rejuvenating day in the wilderness, we went over to check out other areas of Thekkady and it’s lively market on our own.

Day 5: An adventure-packed date with the jungles of Thekkady

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we set out on a jungle trekking tour with a guide. We were looking forward to this adventurous trek since the trip’s inception, and it turned out to be better than what we expected! We walked through dense thickets, over treacherous trails, and under artistic canopies of tall trees and loved every bit of this enjoyable trek that lasted 2 hours.

We returned to the hotel and took some rest before proceeding to our next destination- Kumarakom. Upon reaching our hotel near Kumarakom, we called off the day and simply rested in our room.

We drove to Kovalam and reached Soma Palm Shore Resort, our beach resort in Kovalam at around 3 pm.

Though we could not access the hotel’s private beach due to some issues, we did not let that dampen our spirits and basked in the sun sitting comfortably in the resort’s impressive lobby area.

Day 7: The Surf & Tide of the South: Exploring the gorgeous beaches of Kovalam

We spent the day at the many popular beaches of Kovalam like the Vizhinjam beach, the Shanghumugham beach, and the Poovar beach.

Each of these had something distinct and attractive about it and those who visit only a few haven’t really seen Kovalam to its fullest. After a euphoric day amidst the sun, sand, and sea of the south, we returned to our hotel to pack and rest.

Day 8: Saying sayonara with cherishable memories of our trip down south

What we didn’t love as much: We didn’t indulge in local sightseeing at Kumarakom.
