This is about my honeymoon in Andaman and let me tell you one thing, it was awesome! Now when I look back, I feel Andaman was a destination that was hand picked by God for us (but it was mostly my wife!). My wife? Well, she is fun loving, daring, and has a penchant for adventure. A total water baby, she compliments me in every sphere of life and the fact that we both love water and beaches is once again, a testimony to the bond we share.

Looking at our holiday preferences, it was pretty obvious ever since our marriage got fixed that we would be spending our honeymoon on a beach destination. So we began hunting down places that were not only offbeat but also exotic at the same time. We shortlisted four options for the same – Maldives, Andaman, Lakshadweep, and Bali and after a lot of research and discussions – finalized the Andaman Islands.

We booked our Andaman Honeymoon Package via TravelTriangle which was referred to us by a friend. This travel platform allowed us customization options as per our requirements and we soon raised a request on it for the same. True to their promise, a representative from the company called us and understood our needs and then further connected us to various special agents on-board. These agents then sent us various quotes and itineraries – and we soon chose the best one from “Scorp Holidays”.

Day 1: Port Blair – Sightseeing in Port Blair

Beauty of Port Blair

Upon arrival at Port Blair (bright & sunny) from Kolkata, we met the agent’s representative who transferred us to our hotel – Hotel Western Park. This hotel was nice and clean and its staff warmly welcomed us with drinks. The room that we were allotted was also good and after refreshing for a while, we proceeded on to visit the famous Corbyn’s Beach Cove. This was a good natural experience after which we were taken for the Sound & Light Show at the Cellular Jail. This show was a very interesting experience and we learnt all about the culture and history of Andaman here.

Day 2: Havelock Island – Beach magic!

Nature in havelock island

This day after breakfast, we checked out of our hotel. We were transferred to the dock to board our luxury glass enclosed ferry to Havelock Island (managed by Makruzz). After reaching Havelock Island, we were once again transferred to our new hotel – El Dorado Beach Resort. Post our check in, we spent some time relaxing, swimming, and sunbathing at the Vijaynagar beach which was at the rear end of the resort.

Later, after a delicious lunch at the resort, we visited the Radhanagar Beach. We were spellbound by the beauty of this beach and it turned out to be our most surreal beach experience ever! The nature here was beyond beautiful and after spending an hour swimming in its crystal clear waters, we had some snacks, and then returned to our resort. In the evening, we visited the Venom Bar and had an awesome time with each other in the company of great music and food.

Day 3: Havelock Island – Scuba diving & beach delight

We woke up at 6 am today since we had our scuba diving planned. Upon reaching the Sea Link Scuba Diving Centre, we were briefed about the activity and were finally taken to do it. Scuba diving in Andaman was one of the most unique and beautiful experiences we had ever had its beautiful marine life memories will forever stay with us.

Next, we returned to our hotel, had a quick breakfast and then proceeded to the jetty for a ride to the Elephant Beach. It was a 25 minute ride and a very scenic one at that. The Elephant beach too, was more beautiful than what we had expected and we indulged in snorkeling here. As expected, this water activity in Andaman too was an awesome experience and I would recommend everyone to get their photos and videos taken by the trainer (these memories, they are once in a lifetime!). 3 hours was the time, we were allowed to stay at the beach post which, we were transferred to our hotel.

After lunch, we took a long walk along the stretch of the Vijaynagar beach and in the evening, went out to try some sea food. In this quest, we ended up at Anju Coco Resto Bar which was simply put a bad experience since the staff was way too rude. We abandoned our meal mid way and returned to our hotel.

Later after an early dinner, we slept off, tired from the day’s activities.

Day 4: Havelock Island – Kalapathar beach, sunbathing, & sunshine!

We were shifted to the Sunshine Beach Resort today and it was located on the same stretch of the Vijaynagar beach. The resort once again was very good but the day turned out to be gloomy since the sea was raging. Our visit to the Kalapathar beach also went in vain (not totally) because we could not bathe in the ocean.

However, the sun did come out towards the end of the day and we seized the opportunity to change into our swimsuits and rushed towards the sea for sunbath and swimming.

In the evening, we visited the Venom Bar once again but this time also dined at the its adjoining restaurant – Buddha Garden. Needless to say, it was delicious meal and the fish sizzler they served was out of the world!

Day 5: Neil Island – Natural Bridge, Local market, & a not so romantic yet fun experience

We checked out of our hotel today and proceeded to the dock for our ferry to Neil Island (again Makruzz). After reaching Neil Island, we checked in at the Holiday Inn Resort. The resort was beautiful and had a very gentle and cooperative staff. The swimming pool was extremely clean and welcoming and needless to say, we went for it. After spending around 2 hours here, we had our lunch, and then proceeded to view the Natural Bridge (great experience!). This was followed by a visit to the Laxmanpur Beach which like all the other beaches in Andaman, was clean, beautiful, and extremely serene.

On our way back to the resort, we stopped at the local market and visited the Shiva Temple there. After reaching the resort, we again headed back to the pool and spent our entire evening swimming and lounging by the pool.

Later, post an awesome dinner, we went out for a romantic walk. However dark alleys and spooky sounds emanating from television of nearby houses (must have been music of some horror show) spooked us out and our adventurous spirits fizzled out totally. We returned immediately to our resort and had quite a laugh about it once we were inside our room.

Day 6: Sunset view from the Chidiya Tapu

We checked out from the hotel and were transferred to dock for our ferry (Makruzz) to Port Blair. After returning to Port Blair, we faced a slight glitch as it turned out that our reservations had been changed from Hotel Western Park to Blue Sea Hotel which had not been informed to us by our travel agent and it caused us some inconvenience.

After check in at Blue Sea Hotel, we proceeded towards Chidiya Tapu to watch the sunset and it was magnificent. After sunset, we returned to Port Blair and bought some artifacts and souvenirs from the local market.

Day 7: Port Blair – Wandoor Beach

This day, we visited the Wandoor beach and had a swim there. Then we returned to our hotel, had lunch, and in the evening, went for a walk on the streets of Port Blair.

Day 8: Port Blair – A leisure day at Wandoor beach

The package tour completed on this day. However we had an extra day of booking at Sea Princess Beach Resort, Wandoor. We spent our entire day in the swimming pool of the resort after checking in. The biggest gain of the last day was the complimentary cake provided by Scorp Holidays and facilitated by the tour coordinator Mani.

Day 9: Port Blair – Last Day

After breakfast today, we checked out of the resort, and were transferred to Port Blair Airport for our return flight to Kolkata.

Spending our honeymoon in Andaman was the best decision we ever took. The islands not only refreshed our senses but also rejuvenated our minds with their surreal natural charm. Spending quality time with each other in the background of beaches and ocean was our idea of romance and Andaman delivered it perfectly. Truly, a delight!

High Points:

  • The trip was fantabulous. The best trip of my life till date. The long flights over Bay of Bengal, the patriotic Light & Sound Show at Cellular Jail of Port Blair, the buzzing Aberdeen Bazaar, the cruises over Andaman Sea, the serene blue waters at Radhanagar Beach at Havelock Island, the long walks on the beaches holding each other’s hand, the thrilling experience of Scuba Diving and snorkelling, the sunset at Chidiya Tapu to name a few.

Low Points:

  • The visit at Anju Coco Resto Bar was the worst and only bad experience that has left a scar on the fantabulous trip.

Tips for travelers:

  • Make each and every second of your travel count. Do not lose a second. Enjoy each moment and never let bad experiences bog you down.

Andaman was a surreal natural experience for this couple! Romance, adventure, and nature, they witnessed it all and you can too. Simply book a Andaman Honeymoon Package and let us do the planning!
