To mark the beginning of a new chapter in our lives, my wife and I wanted to celebrate our marriage with a small four-day honeymoon trip. We looked at a few alternatives, but ultimately selected Goa because of its glamorous appeal and proximity to our home town- Pune. A honeymoon trip to Goa was a very enticing prospect to consider.

Day 1: Arriving and relaxing at the resort

After an hour-long flight from Pune, we arrived in Goa at 1 pm and were received by the driver assigned to us who drove us to the Nitya Resort. We checked in at the resort and settled down in our room.
For the first evening, we decided to stay inside, relax, and chill out at the luxurious resort pool. It felt really good as we watched the sunset on a beautiful evening in Goa, accompanied by a slight summer breeze. We ended the day with dinner at the resort, and soon after, a good night’s sleep.

Day 2: Sightseeing in North Goa
We began the day with a hearty breakfast, followed by getting ready for a day of sightseeing in North Goa. Our cab driver began by taking us to the nearest beach- Calangute. After spending some time there, we visited the other popular beaches in North Goa like Baga and Candolim.
Post lunch, we headed towards the mighty Aguada Fort. We enjoyed the scenic views from Aguada Fort looking out towards the sea, as the cool wind aided our little excursion to explore this medieval Portuguese fortification. Afterward, we were taken on a ferry ride towards the open sea to watch some dolphins. It was a delight seeing these wonderful sea mammals in their natural habitat playing around joyfully.

The day ended as we returned to our hotel at 7 pm. We didn’t have much energy to do anything else as we called it a night immediately after dinner.
Day 3: Watersports and Churches in South Goa
This day, we were scheduled to visit South Goa to get an insight into the Portuguese culture prevalent here. We visited some marvelously built churches like Our Lady of Hope Church and Three Kings Chapel. The preservation of the Portuguese culture for 400 years in a Hindu-Muslim dominated society amazed me. In that moment I had an epiphany how the western civilization is now opening it’s mind to being multi-cultural, whereas we Indians, are doing it for centuries.
Later, we headed towards Majorda Beach in Goa for the much-awaited water sports. Without much hesitation, my wife proceeded straight to a shop where we could rent a jet ski. For her, it was the best moment of the honeymoon as we both bounced off the waves while doing jet skiing, and banana boat ride.

In the evening, as we were returning back to the resort, we asked our driver to drop us at a local market near the resort. We wanted to purchase some souvenirs for our family back home. After we did some shopping, we had dinner at a local restaurant and walked back to the hotel for the night.

Day 4: Return to Pune
We were enjoying our honeymoon in Goa so much that last night, we made up our minds to extend our stay in Goa for two more days. I had conveyed this to Nageshver from TravelTriangle, that we would like to extend our stay for a few more days.
Alas, my wife was fell sick on the fourth morning. Therefore, we decided to pack our bags and go home as per schedule. After breakfast, we checked out from the resort and the cab driver dropped us off at the airport.

It was with hesitation and gratitude, that we bid farewell to warm and welcoming Goa. I finally understood why so many people I know fell in love with this vibrant and cheerful place. My wife and I spent four beautiful days here, totally in each other’s company, living each and every precious moment spent together. Our honeymoon trip to Goa was definitely one of the best vacations I’ve ever been on.

- The driver allocated by the resort was very good. He was very adjusting as he didn’t mind us spending a bit extra time on one beach or another.
- The service at the resort was nice and the rooms were very comfortable.

- For my wife, the best moment of our honeymoon was the water sport activities in South Goa.
Low Points:
- The food was delicious at the resort, however, the menu for all four days was already fixed and we would have loved some flexibility with the food menu options.
