Ironically, it was pretty unusual for all four of us to get an extra holiday and that too on a Monday. At once, we all thought that this probably could be the first and the last time that we’re getting an extra leave. So without taking much time, we decided to treat ourselves with the thrills of hills and planned a3 day trip to Mcleodganj.

We got to know about TravelTriangle through Facebook as we had previously seen the ads. Without any more research we booked the weekend trip to Mcleodganj. All of us are from South India and this being our first outing together from Delhi, we just couldn’t hold our excitement within for the trip to Mcleodganj and Triund.

We boarded our bus on the night of 30th December for an overnight journey and our coordinators, the 3S: Suresh, Sahil and Sanjay were exceptionally cooperative and helpful at every point. From the bus journey to the adventures, they never let any of the travelers stumble at any point.

We all introduced ourselves in the bus and we instantly had a South Indian connect with Christina our fellow traveler. Soon the whole group burst into laughter as Sahil cracked his PJs. We took many breaks to refresh ourselves and slept the night off post dinner.

Our Mcleodganj Itinerary For 3 Days

Our Mcleodganj itinerary for 3 days was simply magical. Just us friends, the pleasant weather and natural beauty all around us. We couldn’t have asked for a better holiday experience and we enjoyed every moment of it.

1. Our First Day Of Exploration

The next day on 31st December, we checked into the M hotel by 1pm and freshened up to go out. Post having lunch from Clay Oven, we headed towards the Dalai Lama Temple by 6pm. They had established a huge Buddha statue inside the temple and the views were breathtaking.

As we rolled the temple chakras for good luck, we finished our temple tour and walked back to the hotel through bustling and colorful markets. You must certainly visit the markets if you are planning a trip to Mcleodganj and Triund.

Later in the night we had great fun dancing in the DJ party and around the bonfire. We called it a night a bit early as we had to report for the trek next morning.

2. The Second Stunning Day: Trek To Triund

As everyone was tired of partying from the previous night, we had to start our trek a little late by 10 am. We finished our breakfast and were transferred to the starting point via cab. In the beginning we all were very happy and excited but I must admit, this has been the most incredible trekking experience for me ever.

We really got motivated when one of the coordinators Sanjay picked up speed and said, “let’s see who reaches first”. It was a memorable moment for us as we four were the first group who finished the uphill trek by 1.30 pm whereas the rest reached by 3 pm.

Our first expression on reaching the top was, Oh My GOD! The views were literally breathtaking and guess what treated us up there? THE SNOWFALL! It was our first outing, first time trek and first snowfall of our lifetime. It felt just too incredible.

As we were still enjoying the maggi on the mountains and hot chai, in a fraction of second we decided that we will stay on Triund for night camping. To our surprise there were 12 people from our group who accommodated themselves with us in one huge tent.

We got our sleeping bags and relished some tasty rajma chawal as Triund treated us to a beautiful night sky and shooting stars. Unfortunately we couldn’t click any pictures as it was too dark and all of us got engrossed in reviving childhood games like thumb fighting and chinese whisper. It was unbelievable yet an awesome time up there. Certainly has to be one of the best nights from our Mcleodganj itinerary for 3 days.

3. The Grand Finale

To describe our 3 day trip to Mcleodganj experience in a nutshell, it was mind blowing. We trekked downhill in the morning, reached the hotel by 10 am and freshened up for more adventures. Up next was our visit to the Bhagsu Nag Temple, Waterfalls and the one and only Shiva Cafe.

We just trekked for one kilometer or so and had already arrived at the Bhagsu Nag temple post which our visit to the waterfalls was more fun. After this, we engrossed ourselves in eating some amazing food at the ever vibrant Shiva Cafe.

An amazing day had come to an end. As we were returning to the hotel to checkout and say goodbye to the beautiful Mcleodganj, the sky opened its gates and poured down water like crazy on us. It started raining and we were almost frozen as we stood on the roads to get into an auto.

Finally we reached our hotel, dried ourselves up and headed towards the bus. An incredible journey had come to an end but we’d like to think of this as the beginning of journeys that are yet to come. Make sure you prepare yourself for the trek. It is too steep and one needs to be fit to complete the trek soon and enjoy more time on the top.
Pack light as the temperature is bearable in December and January.
