Day 1: Hello Maldives, you beauty!

We took our flight from Hyderabad to Cochi and then to Male. It was almost 2 when we reached the capital city of Maldives and upon our arrival at the airport, we were greeted warmly by the services and transfer staff of Holiday Inn who escorted us to the pier. From here, we boarded the speedboat to Holiday Inn Kandooma island and it was a thrilling journey.

Maldives at first glance, looked fabulous, and the beautiful property of Holiday Inn just added to its surreal tropical charm.

After check in, we were briefed about the activities and services at the hotel post which we were driven to our beach villa which needless to say, looked straight out of a picture book.

We rested for a while at the villa and then in the evening, set out to explore the island on our own. Later, we proceeded for the candlelight dinner that was especially organized by the hotel for us. Again, as expected, this was a great romantic meal post which we returned to our villa – popped in the champagne and called it a night.

Day 2: Discovering the many charms of Maldives

We woke up to the sound of waves crashing against our villa today and mind you, it was one of the most unique morning experiences ever. Our early morning siesta was spent chilling on the hammock and the couch outside our room in the company of magnificent ocean views. Later, to fill ourselves properly, we proceeded for the buffet breakfast at the resort (food heaven!).

Our whole day was spent lazing around on the beach so much so that we even had our lunch there. At around 4 in the evening, we returned to our room to relax at the private Jacuzzi that was attached to it.

Next up, on our list was the musical night by the beach which was organized at a special restaurant called “The Deck”. Needless to say, we spent our time savouring the delicious snacks and dancing the night away on good music. We even saw a turtle race and believe it or not, it wasn’t as slow as we expected.

The day ended on a cheerful note and after returned to our villa, it wasn’t long before we were slumbered off to sleep.

Day 3: Snorkeling, dancing, and the sweet company of the moon!

Today was a big day for us for we were to do snorkeling. We woke up early in the morning, lazed around for a while and then proceeded to take our snorkeling lessons. The trainer was a nice fellow and we initially practiced in the shallow waters before doing the real deal on our own.

One thing that we noticed during this session was that Maldives had crystal clear waters so much so that we could almost see the ocean bed clearly. We saw a lot of fishes in the waters and overall, it was a pretty awesome experience.

Post our snorkeling session, we had some fun at the infinity pool and also chilled at the beach restaurant called Buffalo Wings. Needless, to day, the day was spent chilling!

In the evening, we headed to “The Deck” once again (the live music had a lasting effect on us) but this time, we decided to eat at their sea food outlet. Since, it was Valentine’s Day, the ambience here was pretty romantic and meal too was no less than outstanding.

Later, we returned to our villa and spent some quality time with each other in the company of the moon before calling it a night (yes, it was very romantic!).

Day 4: Thank you for the wonderful memories, Maldives!

This was our last day but there was one more adventure left for us before we checked out – Deep Sea Snorkeling! As expected, snorkeling in Maldives turned out to be a very enriching and exciting experience for us since we could see the raw beauty of the ocean and its marine life. We saw, jelly fish, turtles, and many other colourful fishes, we had no idea, existed. Even for a non swimmer like me, this experience was out of the world.

Later after a delicious brunch, we wrapped our our belongings and checked out of the hotel in the noon. Our ferry transferred us back to Male for our flight back to Chennai and that was how our tale of love ended. Or wait, maybe it was just the beginning.
