My wife and I have been married for 11 years and during this time, I can say this with 100% accuracy that we both love travel!

Vidushi, being a fitness freak makes sure we both keep exploring new places, keep shopping at new ones, and also keep walking! Having covered quite a few places in India including Andamans, Mumbai, Shimla, and more – this time we wanted to go on an international trip. And Bali fortunately for us, turned out to be perfect!

Although it was a bit tricky for us to chose an international destination, we finally selected Bali from Thailand and Sri Lanka since the tropical country offered us the best of what we call as “ECIS” (Exploring, Capturing, Interacting, & Shopping). Creative right?

Now all we wanted was a romantic Bali tour package and here once again we were lucky to find out about TravelTriangle (via Facebook). So I posted a request for the same and was soon contacted by a representative from the company. This guy understood my needs and further connected to various travel agents on board. These agents then quickly customized our itinerary and began sending us quotes for the same! Long story short, we soon finalized on a value for money Bali package from “Travel Toogle”.

Day 1: Bali, you beauty!

We boarded our flight from IGIA, New Delhi in the night at 11 pm and reached Bali the next day at 2 pm. Upon our arrival, a guy (from the agent’ side) in a traditional Balinese costume was already waiting with a taxi – despite the fact that the flight had arrived 30 minutes before time. He drove us to our hotel, Park Regis Kuta and we checked in. Since we did not want to waste any time, we took a short nap (to beat the jet lag!) and later on went out to explore Kuta in the evening. The trip had started on a great note but don’t stop for better things are yet to come!

Day 2: Water sports at Nusa Dua and night clubbing at Kuta & Legian

This day began with an early morning breakfast post which we boarded our already waiting cab for Nusa Dua beach (one of the best places in Bali for watersports!).
At Nusa Dua, we went to the Basuka Water Sport & Dive center where we were greeted by the instructor “Agung”, who told us about the package inclusions & safety precautions that were to be taken during the activities.

Water sports in Nusa Dua (that we did!)

  • Ocean Walking: We were taken to a special boat from which we were given a chance to explore the underwater world through Ocean Walking. The view was divine since we saw beautiful coral reefs & fishes roaming all around. Also, our life guard was really friendly and took great pictures and videos with his waterproof camera.
  • Parasailing: This was an exciting affair that offered us breathtaking views!
  • Jet Skiing: An adrenaline pumping delight!
  • Banana Boat & Flying Fish: Again, awesome water activities that thrilled us to the core.

After enjoying the day to the fullest, we went out shopping in the evening and later went nightclubbing in the Kuta Legian! Needless to say, it was lit!

Day 3: Shopping in Bali – Kuta delights in shopping bags!

As our third day was for leisure, we did not waste much time at the resort and instead went shopping after we were done with our wholesome breakfast. We traveled by foot to the Kuta Square since it was just a kilometer away from our hotel. The market here is very nice and also has huge negotiation possibilities (we loved it!). Later as expected, we returned to our hotel with countless shopping bags!

Tip: Kuta Square is the shopping hub of Bali. Name a thing & you will surely get it there that too on a good price.

Day 4: Bali Hai Sunset Cruise – The best cruise experience EVER!

After starting the day with a light breakfast, we again did some shopping at the Kuta Square. In the evening, since we wanted to witness the tropical hues of Bali, we proceeded for the Bali Hai Sunset Dinner Cruise.

It was enchanting to watch the colors of the sky changing from blue to deeper shades of orange to purple, red, and finally black. All this was happening while we were cruising the harbor and sipping refreshing drinks on the open air top deck of Bali Hai II. The feeling was magical and frankly the whole scene was more beautiful than the HD images on the internet!

As the night began, our cruise skimmed calmly around Benoa Harbour in South Bali and with the cool wind brushing our bodies, it was surreal – not to forget the live music which elevated our experience to a whole new level!

Later after a delicious international buffet, we danced the night away at the disco on the cruise (overkill!).

We visited the Uluwatu temple today – one of the most important Hindu Temples that is built on top of a cliff. At this temple, we were lucky enough to witness the hair raising Kecak Dance performance complete with its sounds and rhythms.

The performance included men & boys sitting in concentric circles sliding into trance as they chanted and sang in a lively manner! This was the only music to accompany the dance re-enactment of Ramayana and it was phenomenal!

Eerie shadows casted by the light of torches and the sounds of the chorus gave the whole scene a magical effect and made our evening one of the best ones of life! Added to this was the setting of the stage which was near the temple and had a beautiful oceanic background! The sunset here too was even more beautiful than usual and overall, watching the whole performance from a cliff of the Southern Bali was surreal!

Day 6: The greens of Ubud!

This day post breakfast, we checked out from Park Regis & headed towards the greens of Ubud. Upon our arrival in Ubud, we checked into Sri Bungalows which is built between the Rice field and is surrounded by the pleasant sounds of birds & leaf flapping. We enjoyed the rest of the day clicking pictures of the greenery and soaking in the freshness of the air all around.

Day 7: Sightseeing in Ubud – Of art, nature, and the world’s costliest coffee!

After having breakfast at Sri Bungalows, we headed for a combination trip to visit the best places in Ubud. We started by visiting the artistic villages in Ubud and these included Celuk, Mas, & Batuan. Later we visited Tegenungan Waterfall and Sri Batu spice garden & it was followed by Mount Kintamani & Mount Batur where we rested and had lunch respectively. Lunching in the background of an active volcano was surely an experience not many can have (but we did!).

Day 8: Private pool villa at Uppala Villa Resort & Spa

After breakfast today, we checked out of Sri Bungalows, Ubud, & headed towards Seminyak which we were eagerly waiting to visit since the beginning of our trip. In Seminyak we checked into the Uppala Villa Resort & Spa where we were allotted our Private Pool Villa. This villa was beautiful and our rest of the day was spent exploring Seminyak and chilling at our villa!

In the night, when we came back to the hotel and were surprised by the villa staff who had arranged a candle light dinner for us. The whole ambience was very romantic and the table was set just beside our private pool inside the villa.

“Candle lights and the fragrance of flowers did a great job in setting up the romantic dinner which was truly refreshing in every sense – not to forget the meal, which was great too!”

Day 10: Goodbye Bali, you were a dream come true!

This was our final day in Bali and the feeling of not wanting to leave this paradise had already started to creep in as were having our breakfast! Later, after a posting a review about the property and its services, we checked out and left for the Denpasar Airport to catch our flight to New Delhi.

The trip was now officially over but the longing to go back had officially begun! Bali in every sense was blissful and we enjoyed every bit that it had on offer. From the exciting water sports to sightseeing to shopping and the marvels of nature – everything was magnificent!

“Now when I look back, I feel Bali was one wonderful dream that we were destined to be a part of!”

Things we loved on our trip:
Underwater Ocean Walking, Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple, Visiting Nightclubs at Kuta Legian, & our stay at Private Pool Villa in Seminyak.

Any negative experiences:
Yes, but not because of Travel Triangle or my travel agent “Travel Toogle”. My stay at Sri Bungalows in Ubud was not as good as I expected. This was a very nice Bungalow style resort but the staff was reversely proportional to that.
My agent from Travel Triangle was providing me a different hotel which I got changed to Sri Bungalows (my bad) but the agent was gracious enough to provide all the support we needed!

Traveling tips for Bali:

  • Carry US Dollars instead of INR. You will get many money exchange hubs all across Bali.
  • If you are a shopaholic then plan more days in Kuta, possibly near Kuta Square. Nusa Dua Beach & other beaches are not far.
  • If you need taxi to explore the area, the best is to come out & get a Bluebird Taxi. The guys are professional & polite & they negotiate as well. Bluebird Taxis are the best in Kuta & Seminyak.
