For a long time, I wanted to visit Kerala with my family and finally when I did, the experience was well worth the wait.

Day 1: Guruvayur – Spirituality & Nature

We started our journey from Chennai and took a train to Kochi. Upon our arrival at the Ernakulam Railway station, we were received by the travel agent’s representative. We straightaway proceeded towards Guruvayur from here and visited its famous temples like Guruvayur Temple, Mammiyur Sri Mahadeva Temple, and Parthasarathy Temple.

Post this, we checked into our hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

Today after breakfast, we proceeded towards Athirappilly where we saw a very beautiful waterfall. This was a very refreshing experience for all of us, post which, we visited the ropeway. After having some fun here, we then proceeded towards Munnar.

We reached Munnar in the night and soon checked into our hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

This was a very eventful day for us and in the morning after breakfast, we visited a number of places namely, the Rock Garden, Tea Estate, and Spice Garden. In the afternoon, we once again proceeded towards Kochi and did some sightseeing there. We visited Mattancherry Palace, St. Francis Church, and Marine drive. Overall, our whole sightseeing in Kochi was fantastic post which, we were dropped off at the Ernakulam Railway station for our train back to Chennai.

When I look back at our time spent in Kerala, I see a flurry of happy memories and nature. Our family time spent at the “God’s Own Country” was fantastic and we would surely return to this paradise again.

High Points:

  • Covered a lot of places in such a short time
  • Everything ranging from the waterfalls, to the tea estates to spice gardens, and sightseeing was a fantastic affair.
  • The climate of the place was so refreshing.

Low Points:

  • Our cab and cab driver weren’t good and the car broke down a number of times during the whole trip.
