Why and How ‘Bali’: How did we decide on the location and the package agent?

I wanted to plan a perfect honeymoon trip for my wife. And it’s a tricky task to decide an ideal location which on one hand gives us enough opportunity to relax and on the other hand is away from the urbanized chaos. And after visiting places like Chail, Manali- Rohtang, Spiti valley and the likes, I realised that I wanted to cover an international destination this time.

Bali was on my mind as an option. It was also perfect for both of us: my wife likes to enjoy nature as she finds it peaceful whereas I am more of a luxury person and I like to stay in good hotels and villas. Day 1 : Selamat Pagi Bali!

We boarded our flight from New Delhi and reached Bali the next day in the afternoon. Upon our arrival, the company representative was ready to welcome us. All decked up in a traditional Balinese costume, he greeted us with a warm welcome note and then drove us to our hotel, the Atanaya hotel. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was very warm and welcoming. We just wanted to relax in the property, so we went for the Balinese massage, which was a very rejuvenating experience. Post that, we came back to our room and slept off.

Day 2: Revisiting the Bali heritage

Our day 2 started with a hefty breakfast at the hotel. Our guide was on time to pick us up for Kintamani volcano tour, which was 45 kms from Kuta. On the way, we visited the local shops and grabbed Balinese handicrafts such as traditional clothes and wooden items.

Kintamani is the viewing point of Mount Batur, an active volcano located in the north-west of Mount Agung in Bali. The main attraction is located around Lake Batur where Penelokan village provides spectacular views of this crater lake and Mount Batur, set in a vast volcanic caldera. The hot, bubbling and active volcano hides a beauty in itself.

Post that, we visited the coffee plantations nearby. These vast acres of land with rows and rows of coffee, provides a scenic view under the blue skies. We stayed in the area for a couple of hours before coming back to our hotel in the late evening for dinner and sleep.

After starting the day with a light breakfast , we set off for Bali Hai Cruise . This was one of the best experiences of the entire trip. It was enchanting to watch the colors of the sky changing from blue to deeper shades as we were gushing through the waves. We rowed to the Lembongan island, where there were water activities planned for us. We did snorkeling, sea walking and banana boat ride. The feeling was magical and also the most thrilling experience for us. We had buffet lunch in the island itself and it was lip-smacking delicious.

Around evening, we had a barbeque, which was amazing too. Overall this day was perfect with us being in the company of nothing but blue sea waters till as far as our eyes can see.
We came back to our hotel by late evening and slept off, exhausted from the day’s activities.

Day 4 : The villas and the sun kissed sands

We had planned to stay in a Private villa in Seminyak for the last two days. We selected the Transera Grand Kancana on our own and Travel Triangle helped us with the booking formalities. After having breakfast, we were transferred to the villa on the ferry. We were bowled over by the beauty and the location of the villa. The swimming pool , the hut bed , the couch , everything was just perfect.

We relaxed in the villa throughout the day and in the evening, we went to Petitenget beach to enjoy the sunset view. The view was fantastic and we stayed there for sometime, letting our feet make ripples with waves on the sands.Later we came back to our villa and slept off.

Day 5 :The beauty of Tanah Lot temple

It was raining today. The light showers got us in the mood for a good road drive. After having a light breakfast, we left off for a visit to the Tanah Lot temple. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Bali. The temple is over a rock formation over the island and is dedicated to Dewa Baruna, the sea gods. It is a must visit place and one should not miss the view of the setting sun from here.

One should opt for the services of a guide if one is interested in knowing the proper history of the temple. There are a lot of professional guides near the temple and offer tour services at negotiable rates

Day 6 : Selamat Tinggal Bali

Finally the day came when we needed to leave Bali, taking with us loads of sweet and beautiful memories . The trip was now officially over . We checked out of our Villa on time, and left for the airport to take the flight back home.

To just say that Bali was the perfect honeymoon destination would not do justice to how that place made us feel, it was much more than that. The beaches, the people and most importantly the culture of Bali makes you so fond of those islands that it’s impossible to remember your time there without choking up.
