A weekend trip to Jim Corbett was all it took to satisfy Sonam’s wanderlust. Read on as Sonam gives her account of an adventurous escapade involving wild jungle safaris and multiple rounds of antakshari!

What is the best way to spend a long weekend after you are bored from work and the system at play has allowed you three days of blissful freedom? There are two ways to go about it:

One can either decide to sleep it off or one can actually ignore the laziness and take a trip into the wilderness. I chose the second way. Obviously!

Things to do in Jim Corbett

It was a lazy afternoon in office, the usual tasks were being taken care of, and suddenly it occurred to me that a long weekend was coming our way. Out of excitement I informed everyone and next, I saw that everyone was already involved in making plans.

I had no plans as such and I was just thinking about what to do when a friend came over to me and asked me about my weekend scene. I told him there was no scene, very annoyed and bored with the fact. He then told me about a weekend trip he took sometime back with TravelTriangle, a holiday marketplace offering customizable tour packages for various locations across the country.

That’s when it clicked me; the idea that I should totally use the long weekend and take a trip with friends to a nearby weekend getaway from Delhi. Two of my friends decided to accompany me to the trip. We started looking for good weekend getaway packages on TravelTriangle. It fit our budget perfectly and Jim Corbett is a place I knew we would enjoy. Then there was no other option for us; We had to go!
Hence we booked our trip immediately and eagerly waited for the day to arrive.

2 Day Jim Corbett Trip from Delhi

Let me share how our 2-day trip to Jim Corbett from Delhi became exciting and memorable for us.

Day 1: The beginning of an adventure

An Adventurous 2-Day Weekend Retreat To Jim Corbett

We all gathered at Akshardham metro station, from where we were to catch our bus to Jim Corbett. Once we were comfortably seated and the vehicle started moving, the coordinators (lovely people, who have now become our friends) asked us to introduce ourselves. We introduced ourselves to one another and soon the non stop talking began. By the time, we got down for tea at Shiva cafe, we knew each other’s names and everyone started chatting about how the trip is going to be.

The entire journey for our Jim Corbett trip from Delhi, was spent in talking to each other, playing antakshari, singing old bollywood songs and laughing merrily on almost everything. Garjiya Devi temple, dedicated to goddess Girija, is a very famous temple in the area. Literally, the temple is a huge rock placed in the mid of river Kosi. The river flows right next to the temple and one can easily sit in the rocks over shallow waters and soak in the serene beauty.

In the evening, we came back to our resort for dinner, followed by bonfire and DJ night. Due to some permit issues, the DJ party got cancelled, but thankfully, the coordinators had speakers and our fellow travelers had amazing music on their phones. So it was a party, only without the disco lights, but we did not mind as we had a zillion stars in the sky to give us company.

With teeth chattering due to biting cold, and dense fog giving us company, we started off in search of the wild beasts around the area. We could manage to see wild elephants, deer, a variety of birds and other animals. The safari lasted for two hours and by the time we got back to our resorts, we were super hungry. We had a sumptuous breakfast and clicked group pictures in our resort.

Jim Corbett Safari

Sitting in the bus and seeing the pictures of the trip made me realise one thing: I needed this trip for myself, more than anything. This trip gave me a chance to be around nature and stop and think about what matters to me the most. It’s the people I meet everyday, people from different walks of life, and the memories I create with them that matter the most to me. I am very glad that I took this trip and I thank TravelTriangle for planning it so smoothly. Kudos to them!
