How To Reach Andaman

The best way to reach Andaman and Nicobar Island is by taking a flight from New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Vishakhapatnam, or Kolkata Airport to Port Blair. If you’re planning a honeymoon, you can also try the waterways to reach the island, since it is a romantic journey. However, it takes more time to reach, so we prefered to fly down to Port Blair.

Day 1: Cellular Jail & Carbyn’s Cove Beach

28 Honeymoon Places In Andaman Couples Can’t Afford To Miss

On our arrival at the Veer Savarkar Airport in Port Blair, our travel executive received and escorted us to the hotel we booked – TSG Grand. After checking in and a few hours of relaxing, we visited the historic national memorial – the cellular jail, which is also known as Kaalapaani. The Cellular Jail is no doubt one of the best places to visit on a honeymoon in Andaman. Declared as a national memorial, it was constructed by Britishers in 1906, and has witnessed the most inhumane atrocities borne by the convicts, who were mostly freedom fighters.

After spending few enriching hours at the Cellular Jail, we visited the Carbyn’s Cove Beach, which is only 8 km away from the city centre and is a prominent sightseeing place in Andaman. The pleasant blue water and lush green coconut palms on the beach made it a perfect hotspot for us to chill by the beach side.

However, we ended our day with the popular sound and light show at the Cellular Jail, which gave us a vivid experience of its strong association with the freedom fighters, and put a perfect start to our honeymoon.

Tip: Cellular Jail remains closed on Monday and the entry fee for two persons is INR 60. So, plan your visit accordingly.

Next day, we visited Asia’s No.1 beach rated by the Time Magazine – the Radhanagar Beach. We reached the jetty point and boarded the ‘Green Ocean 2’ cruise to begin our journey to the Havelock Island. After a journey of two and a half hours in the Andaman Sea with the flying fishes and Dolphins (you may be lucky to sight some) around, we reached the Havelock Island. Our tour executive received us at the jetty point and took us to the Dolphin Beach Resort. We relaxed for a few hours at the resort, and then finally visited the Radhanagar beach.

This place is so heavenly that even if the wedding events has worn you out and you can’t think of anything better than lying on the beach, then the tranquility of Radhanagar Beach (also known as Beach No. 7) at Havelock Island would end up rejuvenating your soul, body, and mind.

Voted as Asia’s best beach in 2004 by the Time Magazine, this blue heaven truly proved to be a cherry on our honeymoon cake. Soft sand sandwiched between the turquoise waters of the Bay of Bengal on one side and emerald green forests on the other, this beach is a dreamy tropical paradise, and we loved every bit of it.

Both my wife and I enjoyed the waves and the miles of the coastline. Undoubtedly, this white sand beach is also the best place for swimming as there are no rocks on the coast and the waves are also not too high.

Tip: Do not go farther into the sea, as there is a danger of crocodiles.

Day 3: Elephant Beach

Elephant Beach is around 40 minutes journey by boat and one of the best places for snorkeling in Andaman because of its calm blue shallow waters. There are three points up to which you can snorkel. You can have best shot photographs here and witness the coral reefs in all their glory by going till the third point. What makes this place a must-visit is also the innumerable water sports activities, which include Jetski, banana ride, sofa ride, and more. This completely enthralled us and that’s why we couldn’t wait to spend the third day of our honeymoon in Andaman on the Elephant Beach.

Day 4: Neil Island

Neil Island is one of the hottest tourist spots in Andaman, and its dense forest, sparkling sandy beaches, and coral reefs made us look forward to visiting there. The best thing though is that for couples there are so many experiences in store here like the underwater scenery, water sports at Laxmanpur, Sitapur, and the Bharatpur Beaches.

While Bharatpur Beach is scenic, sublime, and is home to many water sports activities, the Laxmanpur Beach is romantic and a beautiful white sandy beach that is full of shells and dead corals. Also, the sunset here offers a heartwarming view. After exploring all of these beaches, we headed to the ‘Pearl Park Beach Resort where we were staying.

Apart from this, both of us also visited the Natural Bridge, which is also known as the Howrah Bridge, a name given by local Bengalis.
