Our trip to Mauritius was special in many ways. Firstly, it was our honeymoon, secondly, it was our first international trip, and lastly, it was too romantic and adventurous to be true. In short, we loved it!

Choosing Mauritius as our honeymoon destination was a mutual decision since my wife, Hitika, and I wanted a vacation where we would be away from known people, faces, and experiences – and frankly, Mauritius, lying in the waters of Africa, was a perfect choice.

So there we were, all decided on our destination but without a package and this when we started searching online. We came across various websites including TravelTriangle but after comparing the personalized quotes from TravelTriangle and the package prices from others, we found the former to be extremely value for money and chose it as our travel partner.

Incredible Things To Do On A Family Trip To Mauritius

Upon reaching Mauritius, we were greeted by a representative from the agent’s side, who helped us with our transfer to the hotel. At the hotel, we were surprised to find a mixed crowd of French and Indian tourists all indulging in activities like swimming pool and billiards among many. Seeing so many unknown faces, made us feel a little out of place but soon we were fine.

Overall, our resort was beautiful and our room was well decorated with flowers. It also had a Ratan Hat and a coconut rum bottle but since we do not drink liquor, it was replaced by a Chamdor Sparkling Grape Fruit Bottle. The room also had a huge sliding glass door which provided us spectacular views of the ocean.

We woke up early today and went for a refreshing walk by the seaside. Watching the sunset here with my wife was extremely romantic and by the time we returned, a sumptuous buffet at the hotel was already waiting for us.
Later after freshening up, we took a seat in coach and proceeded for our sightseeing tour of the North Island of Mauritius.

On the way, we saw a church and once we had reached the capital city of Port Louis, we saw an old fort, Champ De Mars Racecourse, and the shops at Le Caudan Waterfront. We bought a few items and did some window shopping here post which we returned to our hotel.

The rest of the day was spent chilling at the hotel and it was amazing!

Day 3: A super eventful South Island tour

Today, we went for the South Island tour and started by visiting a diamond shop and museum and a ship building factory. It is said that Mauritius people believe that having a ship model in their house means taking good luck with themselves. And so we too bought one from the factory and so far everything is going well. Hahaha!

Next up was the scenic town of Curepipe & its surroundings from the extinct crater of Trou aux Cerfs. This place was really beautiful and full of greenery. We then drove through the nature park of Black River & Plaine Champagne to Chamarel village. Here we had a thrilling session of Quad Biking post which we saw the 23 colored volcanic rock mountain, the waterfalls, mesmerizing scenic beauty.

Finally, we visited Grand Bassin (Ganga Talao) sacred lake and also saw the stunning 108 feet statue of “Mangal Mahadev” and a Hindu temple.

We returned around 7 PM to our hotel and since this day had been really tiring, we quickly had our dinner and went to sleep.

Day 4: Incredible water activities at the Ile Aux Cerfs Island

parasailing in mauritius

This was the most exciting day of our trip for we were to do water sports today. The place where this was happening was called Ile Aux Cerfs which was an emerald lagoon on the east coast. This island is known for its sandy beaches, beautiful lagoon, and a wide range of facilities and activities.

We did parasailing here, explored the lagoons via speed boat and visited the nearest waterfall. Overall, it was an excellent experience and both my wife and I really enjoyed playing in the ocean and having the time of our lives on the beautiful beach.

Day 5 & 6: Cute leisure romantic days

There weren’t any excursions planned on these days but this was nice because my wife and I got to relax a lot and spend some really good times by the seashore. We took a couple Spa and even indulged in a romantic candle light dinner especially prepared by the Hotel Chef “Vikash”.

For fun and activities, we played darts, billiards, and also took a ride in the Glass Bottom Boat, provided by the hotel. And yes, we did click a lot of pictures!

Day 7: Going out with a bang!

A Sweet Honeymoon Trip About Must Do Things In Mauritius

This was our last day but we weren’t ready to leave Mauritius without doing snorkeling. Since our hotel had refused us to do it on the grounds of being non-swimmers, we booked a Southern Island Discovery Tour via the agents from TravelTriangle and left in the morning for the same. Apart from visiting the lighthouse and one more island, we finally reached a place where the waters were bluer than blue. This was the place where we had the time of our lives doing snorkeling under the supervision of expert guides. The colorful fishes, corals, and underwater life, everything was surreal.

We returned to our hotel by 4 pm and finally checked out for our flight back to India. By this time, we had already started missing Mauritius, its people, hospitality, and most importantly, its vibe.

On the whole, our trip to Mauritius was fantastic. It was a perfect combination of leisure, nature, and adventure – something which was much needed after our wedding celebrations. Time spent here in this paradise with my wife will forever be cherished in my heart.

Wow Moments

Enjoying the crystal clear waters of the lagoons. It was a first for us and was totally different to what is there in Goa. Another great moment was when we were doing snorkeling and we saw the incredibly beautiful underwater marine life. Sitting on the beach, watching the sunset with my wife was another incredible highlight that I deeply cherish.

Low Points

The trip came out to be on a bit costlier side since the rates on the menu card in the hotel were in INR and exchange was costly.
Overall, the activities committed in the itinerary were on a more expensive side.

Tips for travelers

We missed on the “Interaction with Lions” activity at Casela Nature Park, but one should definitely book one.

Mauritius was a surreal delight for this couple. They witnessed nature, adventure, and the best of romance on their island escapade and you can do it too. Simply book a Mauritius Honeymoon Package and let us do the planning for you.
