From Kalka, book a cab to Shimla that will take about an hour. This entire journey takes about 34 hours. Kalka Mail runs daily between Howarah and Kalka train stations. It is the most convenient way to visit from Howrah to Shimla by train.

How to reach Shimla from Kolkata by road

If you are traveling from Kolkata to Shimla by road, there are no direct buses. You will have to travel by train from Sealdah to New Delhi. This takes about 17 minutes. From here, take a train to Kashmiri Gate that takes about 6 minutes. From here, you can take a  direct bus to Shimla that in total takes about 11 hours. If you travel by your own vehicle from Kolkata to Shimla, the entire journey would take 25 hours and 16 minutes.
