Shimla is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh. It is also known as the queen of hill stations. Tourists not only from India, but from abroad also, visit Shimla. One of the most famous places in Shimla is the Jhakhu Temple. Jhakhu Temple is located at a distance of about 2.5 kms from the main city centre. It is located at an altitude of 8000 ft above the sea level. Many popular legends are associated with this temple. One of them is that Lord Hanuman stopped at the Jhakhu Hill when he was looking for Sanjeevani herb. He met sage Yaaku on the hilltop and then continued his journey. The 108 ft tall idol of Lord Hanuman is the major attraction of the Jhakhu Temple in Shimla. Many tourists and pilgrims visit this temple throughout the year. 

Another very popular tourist attraction in Shimla is the Christ Church.

It is one of the most famous places in Shimla. The Christ Church is located on the Mall Road in Shimla. It is a very good experience to be at the Christ Church. During the winter season, when it snows here, this place turns into a spot for various kinds of winter sports. Many tourists come here to spend some time and adore the beauty of the nature.  Also, the Christ Church in Shimla is considered to be a very sacred site for the Christians. Many tourists and pilgrims come to this church. 

Another popular tourist spot in Shimla is the Viceregal Lodge. Viceregal Lodge is located on top of the Observatory hill, which is one of the seven hills of Shimla. The Viceregal Lodge served as the residence of Lord Dufferin, the then Viceroy of India. The architecture of this buildings depicts the English Renaissance revival. After a long time, the Viceregal Lodge came to be known as the Rashtrapati Niwas and became popular as the summer residence of the President of India. There is a museum located inside this building. It has several photographs and manuscripts of the British Colonial era. 

One of the most famous tourist spot for sightseeing in Shimla is the Chadwick Falls. Chadwick Waterfall is located in the dense forest of Glen and is located at a distance of about 7 kms from Shimla. Chadwick falls have crystal clear water which fall from a height of about 90 metres. The Chadwick Falls is surrounded by lush green hills of Deodar and Pine. It is a very blissful experience to be here.
