Visiting Delhi to Kashmir can be achieved in several ways. Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, Jammu and Kashmir is the northernmost state of India. Due to mountainous terrain, road connectivity and conditions vary throughout the year. The valley and Jammu region cater to all kinds of travellers ranging from solo adventurers to honeymooners. Recent updates on weather, flights, and journey route are necessary to learn when travellers are looking up how to reach Kashmir from Delhi NCR.

By Air: Airports in Srinagar and Jammu have regular flights from New Delhi. Domestic airlines like Air India, GoAir, IndiGo, and SpiceJet provide nonstop one-hour flights from Delhi to Kashmir. Srinagar International Airport (SXR) is located about 12 kilometres north of Srinagar and Jammu airport (IXJ) lies about 8 km southwest of the city of Jammu. Booking a Delhi to Kashmir flight is a great way to cut down travel time. Taxi and car rentals are available at both airports.

By Rail: Jammu Tawi (JAT) is the busiest train station in Jammu and Kashmir. A major junction for Delhi to Kashmir train, Jammu Tawi is the northern terminal of trains coming from Punjab, Delhi, and other lower Indian states. The Jammu Tawi Express, Jhelum Express, Pooja Express, Malwa Express, and Jammu Mail are some of the daily trains running between New Delhi and Jammu. Katra and Udhampur are other railway stations in Jammu region. The Banihal to Baramulla line passes through Srinagar, Anantnag, and Pampore. Delhi to Kashmir train ticket price is roughly half of the flight tickets.

By Road: Tourists planning to travel from Delhi to Kashmir by road should know that government and several private operators ply buses between Jammu and Delhi. The Srinagar Jammu National Highway, which is a part of NH 44, is the main access road to visit Jammu and Kashmir from Delhi. The distance between Jammu and New Delhi is about 808 km along the NH 44. The highway also connects Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Pathankot with New Delhi. The time taken from Delhi to Jammu by public transport on this route is two days. The north end of 2.5-km-long Jawahar Tunnel leads traffic into the Kashmir Valley. A Delhi to Kashmir bus takes about 20 hours to cover the distance.

Upon booking we immediately asked whether we should try ourselves for getting Gondola tickets. We were told no need and the agency would take care. Near to our travel date, and after the bookings are closed we are informed to try on our own leading to no Gondola tickets. Poor advise in terms of what

we can achieve or not on a trip. We had to use our own judgment and with the help of driver amend the plans as required. The agency vouchers were issued that were different to that issued by Travel Triangle. When questioned why there is no mention of Doodhpatri, it was just plugged in for the last day when we were to return from Pahalgam to Srinagar. The driver advised it would not be possible to do justice as we have to do Shikara ride also and left off Shalimar Garden. We amended and went to Doodhpathri on the day we cancelled Gulmarg plans due to no Gondola tickets. . Overall we feel shortchanged as we could not go to Gulmarg while we paid for that part of the trip. The driver saved us from lack of proper planning and advice from the agency.

There was some communication issue from agent and hence we had to wait in the snow for 10-15 mins. Also, the updated hotel name was not shared in the itenary or mail, hence we landed at wrong hotel and again had to get the luggage offloaded and go the right hotel.

The hotel which was booked for 1st day was not good. Basic amenities like handwash, room freshner etc. were missing. Location of the hotel was also not that good. Other than this, stay was comfortable. Cab was good. The driver was punctual but impatient. He didn't care about lane driving. He was alw

ays in a hurry as he had a flight to catch. Coming to sightseeing, local sightseeing of Srinagar could be better. On the last day, driver mentioned some important places which could be visited. On the last day, our check-out time from houseboat was 12 noon. But the driver as well as travel agent insisted that we have to check-out at 11 am at amx and we will be dropped to airport. I had booked my flight in the evening so that I could spend some more time and visit some more places (ofcourse at my own cost). I asked them if they could drop me to the airport in the afternoon but they denied and informed that it will be charged. These things can be improved or may clearly be mentioned at the time of booking.
