Temple Festival In Alleppey
Temple Festival in Alleppey is an annual festival which is held throughout the year in Alleppey. Of all the festivals, the one held in Mallukkal Temple is the most popular one. It starts from around the second week of November and lasts for 41 days, which is till the end of December.
During the last two days of this festival, which are considered to be the most sacred ones, there is a procession in which nine beautifully decorated elephants are the main attraction. Numerous devotees flock to this temple to witness this grand festival. One special aspect of this grand festival is that the first Sunday in the month of December is celebrated as women's festival. On this auspicious day, all the worship is done by women only. <readmore>Women dress up in colourful traditional sarees and perform all the rituals. The end of the festival temple is celebrated with a grand feast, wherein around 3000 to 4000 devotees are present.
