About Singapore Destinations

Singapore tourism has exponentially increased in the last one decade and rightfully so. From just a commercial hub of South-East Asia that deals with numbers and figures from within skyscrapers, Singapore has blossomed into a place where couples, families, and groups of friends can all go and enjoy a week of fun and freedom. Those who visit Singapore, cannot ignore the impact of establishments like Marina Bay Sands. The façade of that luxurious, multi-entertainment luxury complex has changed the way people perceived entertainment in Singapore. Ever since its head rose into the sky by the shore of Marina Bay, with the world’s highest infinity pool at the top, Singapore has seen a spike in tourism throughout the year.

History of Singapore:

Back to its history, the island at the end of peninsula got inhabited in between 1298 and 1299 AD. Later, in the 14th century a prince of palmebang named it Singapore while acknowleding an animal at the time of hunting. However, it’s only in the 19th century that the modern city was founded by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles. After getting conquered by Britishers and other powerful hands, the country finally got its independence in 1959.

Language in Singapore:

Being a potpourri of inhabitants from different religions, here many languages like: English, Tamil and MAlay are widely spoken. However, English tops the list of spoken languages there.

Main Food in Singapore:

The street food is a way of exploring local cuisine. With a wide variety of food outlets, here you can enjoy Indian and Chinese food. On a visit to Singapore, it is recommended to try Chilli crab, Katong laksa, Satay with peanut sauce, and many other delicacies.

Romantic Places in Singapore:

If one goes out to explore about Singapore, there are quite a few bucket list-worthy places that one must visit here. Universal Studios, the theme park with references and trivia from the cult movies and franchises over the years can be the best place to visit in Singapore for a thrilling experience with your beloved. Sentosa Island is a place with the best beaches in Singapore. Moreover, it is a potpourri – where al fresco shops meet high-rising shopping malls in the same boulevard. While the Merlion stands as the symbol of the country’s heritage, Besides that, one can choose to enjoy picnic at the Esplanade Roof Garden, or walk the Sky Bridge at Gardens by the Bay,

Adventure Trip in Singapore:

Visit Singapore for all the activities that the country has to offer. Apart from enjoying beach activities, one can indulge in jungle safari, night safari, and skydiving in Singapore for some adrenaline rush. From around February when the winds of the North-Eastern monsoon go away to April, or even May and June if heat is not a big factor, are the best times to visit Singapore. As you visit the island, go to iFly Singapore to experience the thrill of indoor skydiving; try kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and a lot more other adventurous activities.

Main Festivals in Singapore:

From the beginning of the year to its end, there are many festivals that a tourist can grab a chance to celebrate to. The list of its main festivals include: Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Vesak Day, Christmas, and more. Being a potpourri of cultures, the list of festivals is quite impressive here.

The best thing about Singapore is its diversity. The country’s history, as depicted in many museums and galleries, has been responsible for this. Coming and going merchants, traders, officials, residents, locals and immigrants – made Singapore a potboiler of cultures and communities. In Singapore, Chinatown rubs shoulders with Little India, Buddhist Pagodas share the skyline with Islamic Mosques – the dynamic ambiance of Singapore is an attraction in itself. To properly understand how this diversified culture plays itself out in the backdrop of Singapore tourism, one must get down to the streets and explore it.

Travel to Singapore

Read about the best & quickest routes to save time & money, as suggested by our travelers

By Air

Most Indian airports have direct nonstop flights to Changi Airport in Singapore. The frequency of flights is owed to the rising tourism between the two countries. India to Singapore distance by air is around 3440 km, and the nonstop flights usually cover it in 5 hours and 35 minutes. Both Air India and Singapore Airlines have direct flights, along with many other carriers. The best part about reaching Singapore is that most of the Indonesia-bound flights usually take a layover in Singapore, which increases the number of flights one can take to Singapore.

By Road

Going from India to Singapore by road is not impossible but a just time-consuming long process. From India, one has to take the India-Myanmar Friendship road. Then drive through Thailand via Bangkok to Malaysia. From Malaysia, one can either rent a car or ride a bus to Singapore. Car renting has the advantage of not going through customs or immigration. There are specially licensed taxis from Larkin Bus Terminal in Johor Bahru, the borderline area between Singapore and Malay land. There are state bus services running to and fro the causeway link that joins downtown Johor Bahru with Singapore. But traveling by bus has the disadvantage of waiting in queue for passport checking and customs just like airports.

Many people wish to have the experience of traveling from country to country by car or by bus, enjoying the days of the journey. It is indeed a different sort of experience if one is willing to make an effort. But for the usual tourists who simply want to reach Singapore, roadway or railway is not at all a very wise choice to go with. As for airway, Chennai to Singapore flights is the easiest and cheapest to get because of the proximity of the two places.

Prompt ticket vouchers issued . Though in Singapore they don't provide any guide( will be provided only for half day of city tour and that to he is more interested in taking tourist to his own friend's shop for local shopping ) and every time new shared shuttle/bus service ......its driver may or ma
y not inform ( which is bare minimum ask of a tourist in case of no guide )you about your drop location as some time they have different drops in the same route . Operations team assumes that you will know your self which point first to visit and to where take drop first and will always challenge your common sense .Rather a planned itinerary WITH which points to cover first would be an better solution specially in the case of Marina Sand & Gardens Way ..... We had to walk like headless chicken in heat for almost 20 mins with Kid to reach at correct point because driver didn't bothered to ask for the drop at Marina Sand . 10/10 for booking related thing . Shivatejas's 8 days trip to Singapore

This trip will always be very close to my heart. It came at a complicated time in my life and it was during this trip that I found answers to many dilemmas that had been swirling around in my head. These 10 days have left me feeling light-hearted and also a little light-pocketed (:)) The arrangemen
ts were remarkably smooth: hotels had our rooms ready for us, the drivers were well-acquainted with our itinerary, and with one or two exceptions, we didn't have to rush to any of our sights. I would like to make special mention of our reception in Bali. It was of a kind that made us never want to leave. We became good friends with Agus who sportingly stopped when we asked him to stop, sang when we asked him to sing and obligingly waited for us whenever we were running late. The high point was the spacious villa arranged for us in time for our anniversary. The entire stay was well-planned and comprehensive. The accommodation in Singapore left us a little surprised. A little prior warning would surely have made things easier. Seeing that our schedule didn't really leave us with much time in the room, adjusting wasn't such a big issue. The Harry Potter experience was on the whole a little underwhelming. Perhaps the aquarium in the ocean would have been a good substitute. All in all, congratulations to the entire team for a great effort. Bali Swing, Universal Studios ( all the rides) Night Safari Sentosa
