About Saputara

Saputara is an exotic and exuberant hill station located at an altitude of 1000m above the sea level and possesses a comfortable andcool climate. Saputara also referred to as the 'Abode of Serpents' is located in the forest region of Sahyadri Ranges. The town issituated on the Gujarat Maharashtra border. The maximum temperature experienced in summers is 28 degree celsius.
As per mythological legends, Lord Ram spent 11 years of exile in the thick dense forests of Saputara. A deity in the form of a serpent isplaced on the banks of Sarpaganga. Local folks worship this serpent and celebrate festivals like Holi. Saputara ischaracterised by rich natural diversity and misty terrians.
Saputara is thronged by many tourists throughout the year and comprises of fascinating waterfalls and is ideal forwatching sunrise and sunset. A major attraction is the Saputara Lake in the backdrop of exquisite surroundings. Boating facility is available here. The place includes beautiful gardens and a museum. One of the attractions includePushpak Ropeway. It is supposed to be the longest ropeway in the country and attracts large number of children and youth.

Waghai railway station is 50 km distant from Saputara city centre. Mumbai International Airport is the nearest airportwhich is 360 km distant. State run bus services ply to and from this place to major cities in the State.
ATTRACTIONS:
PANDAVA CAVES: located in a solitary atmosphere of wilderness at a place Valpoi in the district of North Goa. It is believedthat Pandavas spent some time here and worshipped Lord Shiva. A majestic hivling is placed in the caves.
ECHO POINT: is a place where one can hear one's voice; it is located in Matheran near Saputara. It is one of the primeattractions. The place offers exquisite and charming surroundings with delightful waterfalls.
SAPUTARA LAKE: is a serene and desolate spot placed at the heartland of Saputara Valley. The lake is on the base of Saputara hill station with exquisite locales. The place offers recreation facilities for children. Paddle boats are alsoavailable here.
