5 Amazing Experiences On Our 6 Days Trip To Sikkim

Our trip was all about exploring the best and making amazing memories. Here’s what made our Sikkim tour plan for 5 days cherishable.

1. Crazy Shopping At MG Marg

MG Marg is truly the best place for shoppers. The 1km stretch of road is a pedestrian road lined with all types of shops. It is a haven for those shopaholics who like to walk and indulge in window shopping. There are a large number of shops selling unique handicraft items, displaying a variety of colourful fabrics, shoes, gifts. It is a perfect place to pick up some pretty souvenirs. We shopped our heart out here. Sikkim Temi Tea, Tibetian souvenirs, dresses, winter wear are some of the things we bought. We also went to Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre in Gangtok where we bought really good handmade products.

2. Gangtok City tour

We went on Gangtok city tour as a part of our Gangtok tour plan for 6 days. Firstly, we went to see the beautiful Banjakhri Falls and Energy Park. What makes the fall special is that the energy park is constructed around it. Our next attraction point was Tashu View Point. It was incredibly the best viewpoints my family had ever seen. One can admire the beauty of Sikkim from here and it is also a great place to take photos. Next, we visited the peaceful Ganesh Tok, flower exhibition and few monasteries namely Enchey Monastery, Dro Drul Chorte. The city tour was indeed one of the best experience we had on our trip.

3. Amazing Baba Mandir

On the second day of our trip, we travelled to Baba Mandir and Tsomgo Lake. At Baba Mandir, the travel agent took proper care of getting the permit for us to enter the place. Constructed by the Indian Army itself in memory of Harbhajan Singh, it was a great experience visiting this place. The way towards the temple is fully secured by the Indian army. On our way back we visited the Tsomgo Lake. We went on Yak rides near the Tsomgo Lake which was again a very good experience. The temperature was really cold here as the lake is at a higher altitude.

4. Visit Char Dham

Our visit to Char Dham in South Sikkim on 4th day of our trip was quite unplanned but it was completely worth a visit. We were supposed to head to Darjeeling but as suggested by our driver, we went to Char Dham. This huge pilgrimage and cultural complex house the gigantic statue of Lord Shiva which is another 87-ft tall. What makes the place really special is that one can see all the four main temples in one place.

Situated on top of the hills, Mirik Lake is a big lake and there are options to go for boating as well as horse riding around the lake. We went for horse riding and it was a good experience. On our way back, we went to Ilam, the Nepal border. One can just show their ID proofs and enter Nepal. By taking a cab from here, we went to Pashupati market which is again a great place to shop.

Hotels In Sikkim

Located around 5kms from M.G.Marg, we stayed at Aurora Gangtok in Gangtok. Our stay here was really pleasant. The rooms had a balcony giving us the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Sikkim from there. The sight was mesmerizing and what stands out the most is the staffs at the hotel. They were incredibly helpful and generous. The hotel even had its own restaurant where we ended up eating most of the time. Overall, right from the location to the service, everything was simply phenomenal.

In Darjeeling, we stayed at Udaan Hotels – Zambala Retreat located just next to the Darjeeling Railway Station. Since the train tracks are just on road, you can get to see the Steam Engine trains closer. The hotel was clean but a little crowded because of the tourist population in Darjeeling. The staffs were professional.
