2. Lencois Maranhenses National Park

Situated in Northeastern Province of Maranhao, this is one of the most striking national parks in Brazil. Stretching miles and miles without vegetation but only rolling sand dunes with white sand. The best time to visit this national park is from July to September when the valleys between the sand dunes are filled with rainwater. All the tours in the park are conducted in 4×4 or horsebacks.

Itatiaia National Park is amongst one of the oldest national parks in Brazil.
