The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the newest museum in Central Asia, it was established within the framework of the Cultural Heritage State Programme in the year 2004 and is located on the Independence Square. The museum is spread over an area of 74,000 square metres and is divided into seven blocks with some of the blocks having up to nine floors. The museum consists of several halls including Hall of Astana, the Hall of Independent Kazakhstan, and the Hall of History, the Ethnography Hall and the Halls of Modern Art.
