Since I travel frequently, I am pretty used to booking and planning a trip by myself. Day 1: Driving to the hills to begin our weekend adventure!
We had an early morning start to our family weekend getaway near Delhi by driving in our car from Delhi to Jim Corbett. After a few stoppages on the way for the food we reached and checked into the Corbett View Resort at 12 noon.
At the resort, I thought about booking a jungle safari experience in Jim Corbett for all of us. But unfortunately, we got to know that due to the monsoon rains the safari is temporarily closed for a month. However, it didn’t put a dent in our plans at all as the facilities at our luxurious resort was enough to keep us entertained throughout our first day. After settling in, we had some late-afternoon snacks, relaxed in the pool, and played a bit of badminton in the resort.

Day 2: Exploring the pristine lakes of Bhimtal and Naukuchiatal
The next day, we checked out of Jim Corbett and proceeded towards Bhimtal after breakfast. Upon our arrival at Hotel Royal Rosette, we checked in and rested for an hour. After getting fully charged and rid of all the tiredness from our system, we moved out to visit local sightseeing places in Bhimtal like Naina Devi Temple and Bhimtal Aquarium.
Later in the day, we visited the small hill town of Naukuchiatal. The town is famous for its lake that is blessed with natural beauty. After we returned from the sightseeing, the evenings in Bhimtal used to be very pleasant and refreshing since we would go and eat dinner at one of the interesting cafes near our resort.
Later that night, all of us gathered at the open-air rooftop terrace to enjoy the cool breeze mixed with some light conversations that resulted in an incredible bonding experience for our families.

The third day of our family weekend getaway near Delhi got off to a lazy start as we did a late breakfast and then eventually moved out for a day trip to Nainital. Over there, we explored the much talked about Mall Road where not only did we shop, but also had a delicious lunch. Later on, we indulged in the most popular tourist activity in Nainital- boating in Naini lake.
Later in the afternoon, we visited Sattal and explored its largely unexplored lake-side terrain. The place was remarkably quiet and it surprised me that even during the peak tourist season, there weren’t many takers for a visit to Sattal. I guess unlike us, people preferred spending more time in glamorous Nainital over quaint and scenic Sattal.
In the evening, we returned back to our resort in Bhimtal and rested for the night.

Day 4: Farewell to the beautiful lake district of Nainital
On the final day of our family weekend getaway near Delhi, we had breakfast and then checked out from Bhimtal to start our journey back home.
A thoroughly enjoyable weekend getaway near Delhi was on its last miles and boy did we relish every minute of it. My husband and I had been waiting for this vacation for a long time and once it panned out so beautifully, I felt this sense of fulfillment and satisfaction you only get after an amazing vacation.
