Punekars don traditional attires, buy new vehicles and houses, decorate their homes with Gudis (flags and banners), and take out processions.
The streets of Nashik come alive with dhol-tasha beats and dance. The city and its homes are decorated with lights, rangolis, diyas, and Gudis.
On the first day of Chaitra month, Sanguem celebrates Gudi Padwa with great excitement. Folk dance performances in Gaondongri, Sanguem, and Sattari are brilliant & beautiful.
In Daman & Diu, to celebrate the spring festival, people eat a special dish prepared out of neem leaves, tamarind, and jaggery.
To mark the beginning of the new year and the harvest season, people in Nagpur decorate Gudi flags with garlands, neem leaves, flowers, and an overturned copper vessel.
