To get the glimpse of these gentle giants you have to go deep inside the rainforest territory. You can drive it for seven hours till you reach or you can take an hour\u2019s flight and you will get down at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, where the Tabin Wildlife Reserve is situated.<\/p>\n

Across this 300,000 acres of lowland is vast dipterocarp forest where you can find three of the largest mammals of Sabah, these are the Borneo Pygmy Elephant, Tembadau and Sumatran Rhinoceros.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not a hundred percent guarantee that you will get to see them but there have been frequent sightings of elephant in proximity of the reserve forest. You will find at least some of the 300 species of birds, orangutans, civet cats, frogs and a multitude of insects that call this part of the planet there home!<\/p>\n

While you are at it, you can extend your visit and act on the chance of exploring the Lipad Waterfalls. Go and take a nice, cold dip and check out the Lipad mud volcanoes (known as an R&R for wildlife seeking their mineral intake). You can think of taking a dusk drive in the evening and watch out for more exciting nocturnal wildlife. They wander closer to the localities for food. Birds also come out to look for food during this time of the day. Go for a night walk after dinner. Follow the nearby trail from the resort and you could find some of the most incredible sleeping birds, frogs, and nocturnal wildlife.<\/p>\n
