He booked his package <!--more--> through TravelTriangle and it included his Hotels and Transfers, all for a cost of INR 57,850. He shares his incredible story with us.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nEver since we were kids, we knew <strong>Bhutan as \u2018the land of thunderbolts\u2019<\/strong> and were always curious about this mountainous landlocked kingdom. So when we discussed the idea of visiting the place within the family, everyone was more than excited to go there.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22054\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0024.jpg\" alt=\"View of Chelela Peaks in Bhutan\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The responsibility of booking an ideal package for our holiday was on me. I then searched the Internet for land packages and found some <strong>reasonable quotes for the trip on \u2018TravelTriangle\u2019.<\/strong> Although, I had never heard of TravelTriangle before, on connecting with them, I found the <strong>representatives to be warm and helpful.<\/strong> It turned out to be a great <strong>website for tailor-made packages.<\/strong> I eventually booked a <strong>5 N\/6D<\/strong> trip from Woodstock Travels via TravelTriangle.<\/p>\n<h3>Day 1: Phuentsholing &#8211; The border town<\/h3>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22055\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0003.jpg\" alt=\"Students in Gaedu College of Business Studies\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>We reached <strong>New Jalpaiguri Railway Station<\/strong> and were picked up for <strong>Phuentsholing<\/strong> by the driver arranged by our travel agent. The ride from New Jalpaiguri to the Park Hotel (Phuentsholing) was serene and nice and we saw many lush <strong>green tea gardens of Alipur Duar<\/strong> on the way. Phuentsholing was a border town of <a href=\"https:\/\/traveltriangle.com\/bhutan-tourism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bhutan<\/a> and is much cleaner, less polluted, and less noisy than its Indian counterpart. In the evening, we roamed around in the local market and visited the <strong>Zangtho Pelri Lhakhang (temple)<\/strong> situated in the centre of the city &#8211; also said to be the place of guru <strong>Rinpoche.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a class=\"mustread-link\" href=\"https:\/\/traveltriangle.com\/blog\/bhutan-in-autumn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">9 Compelling Reasons To Plan A Trip To Bhutan While Autumn Lasts<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Day 2: Thimphu &#8211; Meandering through beautiful Bhutan<\/h3>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22056\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0006.jpg\" alt=\"View of Thimphu\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>After our permits were made at the immigration office, we left for <strong>Thimphu<\/strong> with the <strong>local driver-cum-guide Mr. Ugyen Tshering.<\/strong> He drove us through the <strong>picturesque Paro-Thimphu river valley<\/strong> and we witnessed the green mountains as we crossed <strong>Gaedu (Tala) and Chukha.<\/strong> During the drive, we had stopped at the <strong>Gaedu College of Business Studies<\/strong>, and later in Chukha so as to listen to the roar that came from the gigantic <strong>Chukha Hydel Project.<\/strong> Back on the road to Thimphu, we also saw many <strong>barren mountains<\/strong> and that immediately reminded us of its nickname <strong>\u2018the land of thunderbolts\u2019<\/strong>. After about 8 hours of strenuous but a memorable journey, we finally reached Thimphu and checked in at our hotel \u2018Hotel Amodhara\u2019.<\/p>\n<h3>Day 3: Thimphu &#8211; Exploring the capital city<\/h3>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22057\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0004.jpg\" alt=\"National Memorial Chorten in Bhutan\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>This day after the breakfast, we started with the <strong>\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/traveltriangle.com\/bhutan-tourism\/thimphu\/places-to-visit\/memorial-chorten\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Memorial Chorten<\/a>\u2019,<\/strong> a stupa built in the memory of the third king of Bhutan. There was a religious ceremony happening that day and we saw all the head monks with their disciples from various parts of the country. The stupa was <strong>decorated with colourful flags that had hymns and sermons written over them.<\/strong> The chanting of hymns by monks generated spiritual feeling in us and everything felt magical.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22059\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0005.jpg\" alt=\"Buddha Statue in Kuensel Phodrang in Bhutan\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Mr. Tshering, then drove us to <strong>\u2018Kuensel Phodrang\u2019<\/strong> to see the world\u2019s <strong>tallest statue of Lord Buddha (51 meters).<\/strong> This huge beautiful statue overlooked the <strong>Thimphu city<\/strong> and gave us a good overview of the capital.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22060\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0009.jpg\" alt=\"National animal of Bhutan Takin\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Next was the <strong>\u2018Takin reserve\u2019,<\/strong> where we saw the <strong>national animal of Bhutan \u2013 Takin<\/strong> (said to be a cross breed of deer and goat).<\/p>\n<p>After having a simple vegetarian lunch, we headed for <strong>\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/traveltriangle.com\/bhutan-tourism\/thimphu\/places-to-visit\/tashichho-dzong\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tashi Chho Dzong<\/a>\u2019,<\/strong> seat of religious head and the king.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22063\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0012-compressed.jpg\" alt=\"A view of the Kings Palace in Bhutan\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>We also visited the <strong>National assembly hall, King\u2019s Secretariat, King\u2019s Palace, Supreme Court and also the SAARC<\/strong> building situated around the <strong>Dzong.<\/strong> This beautiful place was the centre of power in the kingdom and was both calm and serene. The majestic river <strong>\u2018Thimphu Chhu\u2019<\/strong> complimented it perfectly.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22066\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0013.jpg\" alt=\"Tashi Chho Dzong in Bhutan\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>In the evening, we went to the <strong>local handicraft market<\/strong> (a series of huts stretched over a kilometre, starting from our hotel and leading to the city markets) and it was an interesting experience there. We also enjoyed the <strong>musical evening and the dance performances<\/strong> in the open theatre. All of which, being part of the <strong>week-long festivities to celebrate the birthday of its 4th king.<\/strong> This day turned out to be a pleasant and a memorable one.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a class=\"mustread-link\" href=\"https:\/\/traveltriangle.com\/blog\/alpana-honeymoon-bhutan-travelogue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Honeymoon Trip To Bhutan: The Much Needed Blessing For A Fresh New Start<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Day 4: Dochula pass and Paro<\/h3>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22067\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0019.jpg\" alt=\"Pragatis children and wife in Dochula Pass\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The <strong>Dochula pass is on the way to Punakha,<\/strong> which is the winter seat of the religious head of the country. Dochula pass gave us a panoramic view of mighty mountain ranges and although it was foggy, the place with its 108 small Chorten (stupa memorials) had a picturesque tranquil feel to it.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22072\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0020.jpg\" alt=\"Paro Airport in Bhutan\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>We then drove for about 2-3 hours to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/traveltriangle.com\/bhutan-tourism\/paro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reach Paro<\/a>.<\/strong> On the way, we crossed the confluence of Thimphu and Paro River at <strong>Chhuzom<\/strong> and spent some time there amidst the tinkling sound of the two streams.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22073\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0021.jpg\" alt=\"Kyichu Lakhang in Bhutan\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>In Paro, we visited the <strong>Kyichu Lakhang,<\/strong> one of the oldest temples in <strong>Bhutan<\/strong> (built in 8th century), the beautiful <strong>Paro airport on the banks of Aro Chhu, <a href=\"https:\/\/traveltriangle.com\/bhutan-tourism\/paro\/places-to-visit\/drukgyel-dzong\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ruins of the oldest Dzong &#8211; Drukgyal Dzong<\/a><\/strong> (also from 8th century), and finally the <strong>Rinpung Dzong; administrative and religious centre of the region.<\/strong> It housed the <strong>National Museum of Bhutan<\/strong> which incidentally also overlooked the city and Paro River. We were then dropped at the <strong>Dewachen Resorts,<\/strong> away from the city and all its hassles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a class=\"mustread-link\" href=\"https:\/\/traveltriangle.com\/blog\/nallathambi-romantic-trip-to-bhutan-travelogue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A Perfect Blend Of Adventure &amp; Bliss, Our Romantic Trip To Bhutan Was A Dream Come True<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Day 5: Chelela Pass<\/h3>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22075\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0026.jpg\" alt=\"Pragatis children and father near Chelela Peaks in Bhutan\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p><strong>Chelela peak<\/strong> is the highest point <strong>(3899 meters)<\/strong> on the <strong>\u2018DANTAK project\u2019<\/strong> roads (maintained by BRO, India). It has motorable, as well as a trekking path from Paro. The serenity of the place mesmerized us and after seeing the snow-capped mountains, all of us were left awestruck.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22078\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.traveltriangle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG-20160104-WA0025-compressed.jpg\" alt=\"Blue Poppies in Bhutan\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Later, we returned to the Paro city and went to its markets in the evening. We saw a lot of <strong>shops<\/strong> there on both sides of the clean paved roads <strong>selling souvenirs and handicraft items.<\/strong> It was a nice experience and we were really impressed by the way everything in the markets was organized and managed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a class=\"mustread-link\" href=\"https:\/\/traveltriangle.com\/blog\/festivals-in-bhutan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">15 Vibrant And Colorful Festivals In Bhutan One Must Witness In 2022!<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Day 6: Bidding farewell<\/h3>\n<p>We left Paro in the morning on the 6th day with great memories and beautiful moments to cherish forever.
