We visited Bhutan in the month of June when the weather was immensely pleasant. In the daytime, the average temperature in Bhutan<\/strong> was around 20 degree celcius, whereas in th night time, it dropped till 10 degree celcius. Shrouded in mystery and magic, Bhutan is a country that holds a bundle of surprises. The colorful monasteries and Buddhist tradition have always lured me to the place. Besides the Buddhist tradition, the scenic wonders of this wonderful country is simply beyond words. On our first day in Bhutan, we decided to explore the markets Phuntsholing. Buzzing with a variety of shops and a vibrant atmosphere, we had a great time shopping for cute little souvenirs and trinkets. We also came across wine and whiskey markets in the area where alcohol seemed surprisingly cheap.<\/p>\n

Our next day in Bhutan was spent exploring the many gems of the city. We had a hearty breakfast, finished our immigration process and were all set to leave for Thimpu. It took us a while before our cab for ready but we finally started the journey at 1:30 pm. Halfway through our road trip, it started to rain but we had done our research and carried umbrellas with us. So we stopped for some pictures near a waterfall and then head for lunch. Today was also our friend Shiraz\u2019s birthday which added to all the fun and excitement. However, we reached Thimpu by 8:30 pm but that did not bring out spirits down. We checked into the hotel, enjoyed a delicious dinner and caught up on some sleep to gear up for the next day!<\/p>\n

3. The Many Scenic Wonders of Thimphu<\/h3>\n

Thimphu has a lot to offer to tourists that visit the city and we had quite a bit on our itinerary for the day. We started with the Golden Buddha Dordenma which was a beautiful sight amidst the serene mountains with beautiful statues all around. We took some amazing pictures here and then went on to visit the monastery. The intricate carving inside are truly fascinating.<\/p>\n

Our next stop was the Zoo where we saw the national animal of Bhutan – Takin. You can\u2019t really miss the national animal when visiting the zoo because the rest of it is quite similar to any other national park. You can also visit the Handicraft Market in Thimphu where you are sure to come across some attractive handcrafted pieces as well as some beautiful shawls.<\/p>\n

After the zoo, we head to Coronation Park and the football stadium where we spent some leisure time, walking beside the river and exploring a few shops. A friend also suggested visiting the Mojo Park if we wanted to catch some music gigs but since that was much later in the night, we decided to skip it.<\/p>\n

Our 4th day in Bhutan was a drive to Punakha which is a small town situated in the Himalayas. The drive was beautiful and we stopped at Dochula Pass for some amazing coffee and cream rolls. The sights we saw on the way, were all the more beautiful because of the rain. We also stopped at the Palace of Punakha before we finally reached the hotel. We checked-in and called it a night.<\/p>\n

The drive to Phobjikha Valley was one that I’m going to cherish for a long time. We drove through the clouds with lush green trees on both sides and the cool breeze against our faces. Since October is the season of Black Cranes, we also managed to catch sight of one. Scenically, the valley was beautiful and full of purple, yellow, red flowers. Next, we went to see the Suspension Bridge and crossed over to the other side. The bridge is a popular attraction and the sight from it are truly spectacular. You can\u2019t really miss this when you are in Bhutan.<\/p>\n

We woke and geared up for out drive to Paro which again was dominated by scenic beauty, You really can\u2019t get enough of it!
