In 1969, the government of Singapore decided to turn the National Museum into a museum of art and history and create a new institution dedicated to education in science and technology. The building of the Science Center, which includes the main building, the outbuildings, the outdoor gardens, the Omni Theater and Snow City, was designed by Raymond Woo.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Science Center Singapore (SCS, formerly known as Singapore Science Center) is an institution of science, based in Jurong East, Singapore, which specializes in promoting education in science and technology for the general public. With more than 850 exhibitions in eight exhibition halls, the year of its silver anniversary in 2003, it attracts more than one million visitors per year and more than 25 million visitors. The contribution of Raymond Woo was selected and named architect of the project. It was built for $ 12 million on a 60,000-square-meter property in Jurong East and was officially opened on December 10, 1977 by Toh Chin Chye, the minister responsible for the Science Center. In 1987, the center will be significantly expanded with the opening of the first and only OMNIMAX theater in Singapore, the Omni Theater.<\/em><\/p>\n
