The Local Post Office which was a very traditional monument from where we purchased some souvenir stamps, and the Taskin Reserve were some of the places we visited in the evening. Besides, we also stopped by to treat our taste buds with fried momos and ema datshi which is made of chilli cheese and are both famous local cuisines of Bhutan. For the trek, we reached the base early in the morning and saw the view of the steep mountain from the bottom which looked miles away. We began our hike with walking stick to aid the steep climb. While we had the chance to have the mule ride, we opted against it since we wanted to experience the mountain trek firsthand.

While we started off with full energy, after a few kilometers, we came across the steep climbs which slowed us down considerably. Some of the tracks were slippery too because of soft sand. After every little battle and a duration of 4 hrs, we reached the top. The monastery looked like a peaceful sight and we couldn’t help but feel proud for coming all the way to the top. On the contrary, it only took 2.5 hours to trek downhill. We seized the day with a peaceful and rejuvenating Bhutanese trekkers massage which soothed our bodies and gave us a great relief.

Bhutanese Food: 10 Best Dishes That Foodies Must Try In The Land Of Thunder Dragon!

Day 5 & 6: Exploring Paro & bidding a sweet farewell to Bhutan

On our second last day in Bhutan, we decided to explore the heart of Paro. Post our little local extravaganza, we had lunch and moved to the Phuentsholing city in the evening, which is actually the closest to the Indian border. They mostly cook everything fresh and right away after you place an order, which is the reason for serving you your meal a little later.

Do not litter around. Carry the wrappers in your bag until you find a bin.

Don’t talk too loudly when you’re in temples on monasteries. Respect the peace that adorns every place in Bhutan.

Please don’t ill treat your guide or driver as they are sensitive people and may not appreciate it at all.

Paro Taktsang: An Ultimate Traveler’s Guide To Trek And Explore The Tiger’s Nest Temple Of Bhutan

Other tips for visiting Bhutan

Carry an extra jacket or warm clothing when you plan to go uphill.

Indian cash is acceptable.
