Named after Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, Gandhibagh Park is nestled in the heart of Silchar and is known for its vast expanse of lush greenery. There is a Martyr\u2019s Tomb (Shaheed Minar) in the park\u2019s southwestern corner, dedicated to the 11 martyrs who were killed by the police in February 1961 while fighting for the protection of their Bengali language against the Government of Assam.
