The Bhavishya Badri Temple has a deep history embedded in Hindu myths. According to legend, this temple is one of the Panch Badri shrines (5 Badri Shrines). A prophecy was decreed in the text Sanath Samhita that when Guru Adi Shankaracharya took Badri Vishal from Tapta Kund. It was proclaimed that in Kaliyuga, when the constantly withering hand of the Narasingha idol at the shrine in Joshimath falls, the mountains of Jaya and Vijaya at Patmila, near Vishnuprayag, will collapse. This will block the route and make the present shrine of Badrinath inaccessible.<\/p>\n

Ironically, the arm of the idol of Narasingha at the Badrinath temple at Joshimath is extremely thin, and liable to fall any day. At the Bhavishya Badri temple, there is another idol of Lord Badrinath, which came into being spontaneously, believed by the locals to originate on its own, and it is supposedly growing bigger each passing day.<\/p>\n

The Bhavishya Badri Temple is up the Dhauliganga River at Subaru \/ Subhai. It is about 17 km from Joshimath to the east. The temple is located within a dense forest and reaching the location requires a trek of nearly 3 hours. En route to Tapovan, to reach here, you must take the path off the road starting at Saldhar, and proceed about 7 km to Subhain village. It is possible to walk or reach by riding horses. You can easily reach Subhai village via a hired taxi from the Joshimath village\u2019s bus stand.<\/p>\n

The trekking trail to reach the Bhavishya Badri Temple offers a picturesque view. You can see stunning varieties of flora and fauna here. There are sprawling fields of buckwheat and mustard. If you go around springtime, then you can see small wild flowers peppering the field, and floral grass as tall as 5 feet. You can also see poppies and primroses. It feels like you have entered a butterfly park with the winged beauties all around you.<\/p>\n

There is no entrance fee to visit the Bhavishya Badri temple. However, you will need to pay for all the transport. You can share taxis with other pilgrims travelling to the temple as well.<\/p>\n

The temple opens up at 5 am. It generally closes around sunset. The best time to visit the Bhavishya Badri Temple is from March to May, and then from September to November. It is recommended that you do not visit in winters and monsoons, as the climate is harsh and travel gets immensely difficult.<\/p>\n
