The Siam Society is a Thai cultural organization that encourages research into and exchange of knowledge regarding the customs, history, artistic expressions, and preservation of Southeast Asian cultural heritage in Thailand and its neighbouring nations. The society encourages visitors from all countries, including non-members, to visit its facilities and participate in its activities, governed by its motto: ‘Knowledge Gives Rise to Friendship’.<\/p>\n

The Siam Society is home to the Kamthieng House Museum. It\u2019s a Ruen Galare or traditional Thai Lanna house. The house\u2019s owner, Mrs. Kimhor Nimmanhaemin recognized the worth and significance of Lanna Thai art, which appeared to be vanishing over time. Then she proposed to the Siam Society to buy this historic house. Later on, it was converted into an ethnographic museum near the Siam Society. The reason behind naming the house \u201cKamthieng\u201d. The society preserves Thai culture, painstakingly moving it from Chiang Mai to the bustling city. The Museum remains open from Tuesday till Saturday and the timings for visit is from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm. It also remains closed on Sundays and Mondays if any public holidays are available. Talking about the entrance fees, for adults, it is 100 Baht, and for children, it is 50 Baht.<\/p>\n
