Gauri Shankar Temple is the last monument that was built in the tradition of Gurjar Pratihara. It is a protected monument. It was built during the reign of Kullu kings who were fond of art and architecture at that time. For years, one of the major festivals celebrated here is Mahashivratri as this temple is simply dedicated to Lord Shiva. Gauri Shankar is a perfect example of an amazing Shikhara-style architecture in Manali. This style depicts a mountain which means that the temple will look like a mountain. There is ornamentation on the idols. More specifically the temple would look like mountain peaks.
\nThe top of the temple appears like a dome, while the bottom and the floor are square in design. The temple\u2019s Shikhara is a pointed one and has nine storeys which are decorated with Ardharatna designs and ornaments. The stone sculptures on the walls of the temple both inside and out are very famous. The god Shiva and goddess Gauri are seated above Nandi, their vehicle.<\/p>\n

Both parent god and goddess hold their children Kartikeya and Ganesh while sitting under a silver canopy which is also studded with gold jewellery. The temple\u2019s Garbhagriha is engraved with idols of Lord Ganesha. One can also see people playing musical instruments and dancing all around on the walls of Garbha Griha.
