Captain Charles Pratt Kennedy, one of the first people to come here, was so awestruck by its beauty that he decided to name the place after a young girl, Anna, who he was fond of during his youth. That&#8217;s how the name Anna-dale came into being. The original name was found in Shimla&#8217;s written texts in 1840. Since the 1830s, the year it is believed to have been discovered, Annandale has been an Anglo-Indian entertainment hub.
