In the 12th century, the town was under the ruler of Chandela Madanavarman. Most of the development in Maurinapur was done by the Bundela kings, after which Rani Laxmi Bai took over. On August 10th, 1857, the queen of Tehree captured Mauranipur. Laxmi Bai had a difficult time at the start of another battle with Tehree’s army in October, and she was victorious. During the Revolt of 1858 against the British forces, Rani Laxmi Bai savagely defeated the British forces at Mauranipur and rose to be the most powerful royal during the rebellion. Her army was again strengthened after the rulers of Banpur and Shahgarh formed ties with her. She fought courageously against the British forces under the leadership of Sir Hugh Rose.<\/p>\n
In December 1951, Govind Ballabh Pant gave a speech about the harsh Zamindari Abolition Acts and the onset of the five-year plan.
