Orchha was established at the beginning of the sixteenth century by Maharaj Rudra Pratap Singh, a Bundela Rajput chief. The town was part of the Bundela dynasty that ruled most of central India for hundreds of years, and for a time, the town was the dynasty\u2019s capital. They are cenotaphs built as tombs for the dead Bundela kings and their women folks, and the architectural design of every single monument was a symbol of the Kingdom\u2019s royalty and majesty.
