Built to celebrate Edward VII’s coronation as Emperor of India, the community Hall is still standing strong after 113 years, serving as both a focal point and a recreational space for the community. Without any help from the government or local money, the Hall was built using popular donations. On July 17, 1905, Broodie, the Collector of the Guntur district at the time, inaugurated the Edward Coronation Memorial Town Hall.
\nThe inaugural Andhra Conference, which took place in the hall in 1913 and laid the groundwork for the campaign for linguistic states, was one of many significant events that the hall witnessed. It was the site of the 1913 First Andhra Provincial Conference when the need for an independent Telugu State was loudly voiced. Suryalanka Beach, nestled in the frothy Bay of Bengal, is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Guntur town, which is approximately two hours away. Suryalanka Beach, also known as Bapatla Beach, is located in the Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh. It is around 50 miles south of Guntur City and about 9 kilometres from Bapatla Bhavanarayana Swamy Temple. Placing it in the Bay of Bengal is difficult. 3. Chebrolu Village<\/h3>\n

Chebrolu is an iconic and archaeologically important village situated near Bapatla in the Guntur district. The Chebrolu mandal in the Tenali revenue division has its headquarters here. Chebrolu was the capital of the Kakatiya kingdom and a sacred location for Buddhists in the past. Buddhist artefacts from the Satavahana and Ikshvaku periods were unearthed during the archaeological digs. Tambrapuri was the name given to this village by the Satavahanas. The alternate name, Chatt\u00farmukhapuram, means the city facing the four cardinal directions and was given by Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu, a zamindar of Chintapalli.<\/p>\n

In Chebrolu, there was a huge hoard of Satavahana coins. The coins depicted the two masts of a ship. An inscription by Jayapa, found on two pillars outside the Nageswara Temple’s Gopuram (1231 AD), details the relationship between the Hunas and the rulers of the South. King Pancola of Madra, King Hammira of Videha, King Huna, and King Kasi were all mentioned as being at his door.<\/p>\n

In Uppalapadu, close to Bapatla City in India, the Uppalapadu Bird Sanctuary is one of the most iconic natural places to visit. Village water tanks here are a nesting ground for migrating birds, including spot-billed pelicans, painted storks, and others that stop in from places like Siberia and Australia. Roughly 12,000 birds made their home in these tanks every year, but now there are only around 7,000.<\/p>\n

A few things have been done, though, like putting in artificial trees, raising awareness in the community, and making sure the ponds get enough water, among other things. There may be more than 1500 pelicans living here. Along with these six pintail ducks, other birds seen included cormorants, common coots, common teals, black-headed ibises, two stilts, and five red-crested pochards. Despite not using them in the first several years, pelicans are now making use of the big wire mesh trees supplied by the Forest Department in 2009 to build their nests.
