In the 13th century, the Tippera dynasty ruled Cachar, and its capital was Rajghat village. By the 16th century, Cachar became part of the Tripura kingdom. In 1562, Chilarai of the Koch dynasty defeated the Tripura king, establishing Long as the boundary. The Kochs ruled until the mid-18th century. Bhim Singha, the last Koch king, married his daughter to Dimasa Prince Laksmichandra, merging the kingdoms.
