Jorhat, a city in the Indian state of Assam, has a rich history. It was the last capital of the Ahom Kingdom, which lasted for at least 37 years. The town was established near the Dichoi River, and several markets, such as Phukanar Hat and Mashar Hat, were set up nearby.
