I love going places, not only because it helps me explore a different culture and meet new people, but also because it lets me discover myself. Travel is absolutely synonymous with freedom for me. Nature, adventure, and comfort are things that I embrace the most in a place, and so a family trip to Leh Ladakh <\/strong>had been on the top of my bucket list. <\/em><\/p>\n

The first day of our family trip to Leh<\/strong> was quite a relaxing one. Adapting to the weather, enjoying the soothing ambience, and basking in the bliss of serenity at Hotel Kidar was pretty much what we did.<\/p>\n

Though, we did begin with a little sightseeing around. Shanti Stupa<\/a> overlooking the city, the spectacular Leh Palace, and the market were a few of the places we ticked off our itinerary.<\/p>\n

Day 2: Exploring Leh<\/h3>\n

Kick-starting our day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, all of us were full of excitement. After heading out for our city tour, we visited the Indus River on the Leh-Shrinagar Highway, and witnessed the intersection of the Indus and the Zanskar River. It was a sight worth savouring.<\/p>\n

While driving on the enchanting hills, we also enjoyed the beautiful views of the Himalayas on the way. Our next pit stops included a visit to the Alchi Monastery – the oldest and the most famous Buddhist temple, and Gurudwara Patthar Sahib. We spent a great time here, indulging in langar and seva were undoubtedly the highlights of our visit.<\/p>\n

The last place we explored on day two was the Hall of Fame museum, constructed and maintained by the Indian Army. There is not only a lot to learn from the place, but also a lot to witness and admire.<\/p>\n

Day 3: En route Nubra Valley<\/h3>\n

There\u2019s nothing more fun or thrilling than taking a road trip from Leh to Nubra Valley<\/strong>. We drove via the Khardung la Pass<\/a>, the highest motorable road with endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range and the Indus Valley.<\/p>\n

On our way, we also stopped by to indulge in the staple food of Ladakh like momos, chowmein, thukpa, and more for lunch. It was no less than a treat to our taste buds. Followed by it, we checked into the Dowa Deluxe Camp, which was set up amidst lush greenery and serene ambience.<\/p>\n

The next we visited was the Cold Desert, which was trapped between the Karakoram and Ladakh range.
\nThe stream water with lush greenery around it and sand dunes made the snow capped Himalayan mountains a delight for the eyes.<\/p>\n

Since this day was full of unique experiences, we also gave bactrian camel riding a shot. The 15-minute journey was quite an exciting one. All of us wore a traditional outfit and explored the town like a local.<\/p>\n

We went to watch the folk dance of Ladakh<\/strong>, wherein there was a group performing the dance and then the last sequence called the interested people to join in. We enjoyed their dance post having our dinner, after which we ended the day with a sweet bonfire and relaxing at our camp.<\/p>\n

Day 4 and 5 : Back to Leh, and witnessing the magic of Pangong Lake<\/h3>\n

After returning from Nubra Valley to Leh, the next adventure that awaited us was the journey to Pangong Lake via the Chang La Pass, which is claimed to be the second highest motorable road in the world. We stopped by for a while to visit the Thiksey Monastery, and then resumed our journey again. The thrilling drive became more beautiful when we witnessed a snowfall on our way to the lake. It\u2019s not every day that one gets to experience such a bliss, and so we were all left in awe.<\/p>\n

Extending from India to China, this lake is famous for its changing colors. When we reached there in the evening around 4, we were in luck as we got to witness at least five colors of the lake: purple, indigo, dark blue, light blue, and turquoise blue. It looked magical!<\/p>\n

There was also a setup of the scooter from the 3 Idiots movie, and we captured a lot of fun memories on it.<\/p>\n

Day 6: Chilling near Pangong Lake, and heading back to Leh<\/h3>\n

Waking up in a camp overlooking the lake was no less than a delight. We had a scrumptious breakfast with a view, and headed back to Leh after clicking a lot of pictures at a shooting point.<\/p>\n

On our way back, we also visited the Druk White Lotus School in Shey. This eco-friendly school was surely one-of-its-kind, and something we had never seen before.<\/p>\n

Day 7: Bidding Adieu To Leh Ladakh<\/h3>\n

Unfortunately, it was our last morning in Leh and it was time to come back home. But, the memories that we created and captured were a souvenir that we were too happy to bring back with us.<\/p>\n
