Hindu mythology holds that Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god renowned for removing barriers and imparting wisdom and prosperity, was born in the lake. According to a myth, Goddess Parvati made Lord Ganesha from the sandalwood paste she used to bathe, and she positioned him to protect her abode’s entrance. Lord Shiva, Parvati’s husband, was enraged and, not knowing the boy’s identity, decapitated him when he arrived home and discovered Ganesha obstructing his path. After realising his mistake, Shiva revived Ganesha by swapping his elephant head for his own. Dodital gains a spiritual atmosphere from this story; hence, it draws significant visitors and pilgrims annually.<\/p>\n
