About Vaishno Devi in Jammu

A trip to the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is one of the most revered pilgrimage options that there are, with travelers coming from far and wide to ensure that the Goddess showers her blessings on them. It is located in Katra at the Trikuta Mountains, which is a mountain with triple peaks, and is considered to be an important part of Hindu mythology. The inner sanctum of the Vaishno Devi temple is located at an altitude of 5200 ft. The temple attracts millions of pilgrims every year, from all over the country.

This Vaishno Devi tour is one of the most popular for Hindus because of its accessibility, as compared to the other pilgrimages such as the Amarnath Yatra and Char Dham Yatra. The 12 kms that one has to walk to get to the inner sanctum is an easy trek, and the paths are well paved and maintained. There are plenty of rest stops on the way, with washrooms and eateries. The main Vaishno Devi Temple also has the facility of giving out blankets and bedsheets to the pilgrims, along with a place to stay the night.

In terms of Vaishno Devi history, legend has it that Goddess Vaishnavi, an incarnation of Goddess Durga, spent more than a lifetime at a cave here, worshipping Lord Vishnu and waiting for him to appear to her. During this time, she faced several trials and tribulations such as being disturbed by Bhairon Nath and feeling disheartened on knowing that she would not be able to be together with the present incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In order to wait for Lord Vishnu to return to her, as he promised her, she went to immerse herself in meditation and prayers on the Trikuta mountain, now known as the Vaishno Devi cave. It is said that while waiting for her Lord to return she turned into stone, but still goes on waiting.

    Well our experience with Jolly Holidays was good. As always its time to read good and bad things about our experience: Good experience: 1. We only booked cab and only 1 night stay at hotel with Jolly holidays at 20k for 5D6N We covered Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Gulmarg 2. Uneeba , our travel consultant
    was empathetic and helped throughout our vacation at Srinagar 3. Cab Driver, Aashik was helpful and always on time for pickups and drops 4. We were taken for site seen on time by our driver and always helped us throughout our vacation Bad experience: 1. You have to keep a time check on your itinerary and when you visit all places and do-not trust anyone, i feel itinerary planning should be arranged by travel agents. For us we felt that we missed many places such as Aru and Betab Valley; zeropoint at Sonamarg; Gardens at Srinagar and many more 4. We felt cheated many times in our travel period due to union cabs, pony’s and others so if you are reading this review please be careful and do-not trust anyone, yes anyone. One example : this is at pahalgam pony ride, we gave 5500/- for two ponys till baisaran valley however we met two couples at baisaran they hired pony for 2k for two ponys and other 1500/- for two pony. We went blank when we heard about it. Another example of thug happened when we visited a shop in recommendation of our travel partner there we purchased a semi-pashmina shawl at 3200/- and after that we went dal lake and visited another shop by our own and we saw same shawl, exact same shawl for only 1500/- without bargaining so please be careful when you visit Srinagar Summary: it was good experience with jolly holidays however they need to learn with travellers experience and provider better services.     How many stairs are there to reach Vaishno Devi Temple?

    There are more than 300 stairs at Vaishno Devi that will take you to the main temple, but not all of the way is covered by stairs. There are some plain roads and a few uneven paths that are also required to be accessed when walking towards the temple.
