Places To See

Kovai Kutralam
Decorating the Siruvani mountain range in the Western Ghats, Kovai Kutralam is a cascading waterfall that is a sight to behold. The place forms a picture postcard perfect backdrop to enjoy a picnic or spend time in the lap of nature. You can admire the sight of the water cascading down the rocks or simply venture into the water collecting at the base and enjoy a refreshing dip.
Tip: Even though Kovai Kutralam is a popular tourist attraction, you need permission from the state forest department to visit the site.

Marudhamalai Temple
The temple is the perfect place to seek divine blessings and at the same time, feast your eyes to its architectural splendor. The temple is devoted to Lord Murugan and traces its origin back to more than 1200 years. It is located on a hilltop and offers spectacular views of the stunning surroundings.
Tip: While visiting the Marudhamalai Temple, you can also go the adjoining hilltop known as Marudha Malai. The hill is home to several medicinal herbs and also to a particular section of Tamil tribal community.

Dhyanalinga Temple
Visit this temple for its scenic beauty and tranquility. Dhyanalinga Temple refreshes your soul with a dash of spirituality and also provides you the much needed respite from the mundaneness of daily life.
Tip: The temple also has a meditation and yoga center and you can plan a full day outing if you want to spend some time learning yoga or wish to mediate in the scenic surroundings.

D. Naidu Museum
Located in Avinashi Road, the museum attracts the science history enthusiasts and other visitors. The museum houses an interesting collection of inventions by G. D. Naidu, a scientist who is also referred as Edison of India. The displays also bring to life the history of industrialization in Coimbatore.
Tip: The museum is an interesting place to shop for souvenirs. There is a German gift shop in the complex where you can buy toys and other memorabilia.

Anubhavi Subramaniar Temple
The main highlight of the temple is the natural outflow that splashes up water throughout the year. You can also combine your visit with a tour of the Lalithambikai temple situated at the foothills.
Tip: You need to climb hundreds of steps to reach to the temple. There is no help available to reach otherwise, so it is advisable to avoid in case you have a medical problem.

Singanallur Lake
Located in the Singanallur area of Coimbatore, the lake is a famous picnic spot and provides the tourists and locals the much needed relief from the chaos of the city. A wide variety of flora and fauna surrounds the lake. It is also a bird watcher’s paradise and a home to both local and migratory birds. There are some 100 species of birds that can be found here.
Tip: Since the area is a bird watcher’s paradise, make sure to take your binoculars along.

Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park
This is the perfect place to visit for the wildlife enthusiasts. Located in the protected area of the Annamalai Hills, this wildlife sanctuary is set at a height of 1400 m above sea level. It is spread across an area of 958 sq km and is a home to wild animals such as panthers, deer, tigers, elephants, civets, gaur, wild bears, sloth bears, porcupines, jackals, pangolins, etc.
Tip: Plan an early morning or late evening trip to sight more animals and birds. However, keep in mind that seeing animals in a safari is a matter of luck.

Black Thunder
For some great family fun, visit Black Thunder, an amusement and theme-based park situated in Mettupalayam, about 40 km from the city of Coimbatore. Spread across 75 acres of land, the park has rides and activities for all age groups. In all, there are 49 thrilling rides, the most popular being the Wild River Ride and the Surf Hill.

If your visit is incomplete without a bit of shopping, then Brookefields Mall is the shopping place will excite you. It is the most popular shopping mall in Coimbatore.
