I am afraid the package offered for local tours in Mauritius thru Island walk were no good. First tour to South of Island had half day tour of ship model making factory followed by so called shopping at a very small handicrafts shop. With 6 newly married couples on Honeymoon it was total disappointmnent and waste of time. Second day was Ile Aux Cerfs tour where first they take you to water sports like Para-Sailing, Under water and tube boat. This package is optional and costs Rs 7100 MUR ( equivalent to INR 15000). You are there until 2.30 pm. You need to be there even if you do not opt for this package since most others opt for this. Of course if you did not have these water sports, you did not do justice to your Mauritius trip. In that case why make it optional? Later they take you to high speed boat for lle Aux Cerfs Island where they are technically supposed to leave you for one hour. However since our group was late they gave us just 20 minutes there which wasn't sufficient to go to rest rooms and be back. Pretty disappointed since one could not swim around the island. Last tour was trio to North Island which was complete wash out. They drive you for two hours to take you to one so called fort built by Britishers to guard their port against French. Nothing there except since it is on the hill, you see the town from there. After that they dump you at the shopping mall for three to Four hours before you drive back again for two hours. Hopeless!! Only when we took optional Catamaran tour for the day at MUR 4000 for a couple which included drinks, lunch, Dolphin sighting and trip to Island beach having local handicrafts, we felt something worthwhile in Mauritius. I personally feel, no tours included in the so called package should be taken. Instead live in a good hotel at the beach, do all boating activities at the hotel, water sports ( optional tour) and Catamaran tour ( Optional tour) and if time permits go to Casela Bird Park with Quad Biking safari.

The trip was great.. Mauritius is a great place to be at if you love beaches.. Tripadvisor is a great site to find genuinely good travel agents who do charge exorbitantly and still get you the best hotels and deals.. the total package value I paid definitely seemed more than worth. However I'd like to add, the Hotel Le Grand Bleu desperately needs a renovation.. the property is surrounded with much better options at a much cheaper rate! so many problems including range of wifi, quality of furniture in the rooms, no hot water in bathroom just name a few. The staff and ambience of the hotel are some pros that work in their favour. The food is another thing that is good as they serve Indian food as well. Location is very beautiful and indeed a walk away from the beach! I would really have loved this trip if only the hotel room was in slightly better shape, and that's definitely something to be considered as I rarely complain about hotel rooms and am generally a very accommodating to the situation and budget kind of a person..!
