Good service from Travel Triangle, the arranged everything pretty well and were always there to help.
Sirigriya fort, the thrill of climbing, the wonderful beach's and the greanery around. Other observations:
We need to learn from the Lankans -
1. Traffic rules followed by every motorist , here pebestrian is treated as king, even auto drivers will stop to allow pedestrian to cross first.
2. 25k (INR) min govt specified wage per month. They cannot pay less than this limit.
3. Free medical and medicine for all
4. Free Govt schools , well maintained, less of private schools
5. No litter or garbage anywhere.
6. Pension for all, even in private sector, 8 % self contribute, 14 % by by employer, plus interest on PF.
7. People earn well and spend equally well, they don't bargain much, economy rolls. They find Indians to be very money conscious.
8. Since everyone gets pension, not many are into long term savings and piling up cash.
9. They respect tourists who visit their country. There are many tourists seen all over the country throughout the year.
10. They take pride in serving their country and feely proud to be Lankans
11. The roads and highways are well maintained, even a small service road is well made, did not see a single pothole. Even if you find one, there will be a sign board around it to prevent accidents. Plus not a single speed breaker on any road.
12. Population is well controlled, it's just 20 million, very close to the population of Delhi
13. All latest models of popular cars are found here which have not even made debut in India.
14. Highways construction are funded by the Chinese.
15. Fish is very cheep, chicken is costlier
16. Even in malls, you have three dustbins, biodegradable, non biodegradable and for food items.
17. Sri Lanka did not agree on the Ekta pact with India since they would get flooded with Indian workers due to the higher wage structure in Sri Lanka
18. Foreigner are not allowed to work in Sri Lanka, both in govt and private sector.
19. Rich in vegetation, dense forests and greenery everywhere.
20. Vehicle number plates are made by the RTO themselves. So no fancy name plates like here in India !. All cars use these same standards size name plates, white in front, yellow at the back
21. Every roundabout has a clock tower at the middle to make people aware that you need to reach you destination on time. Sri Lankan take being on time very seriously.
22. Petrol is cheap at around 50 Rs per litre (INR)
Lokmanya Rawat booked a trip to Sri Lanka for 6 days in a group of 5 adults on TravelTriangle website from Boom Lanka Travels and submitted a review on Apr 25, 2018
