It all started when we chose Travel Triangle somewhere in October as our tour partner for
South. I spoke with Raj and was really impressed with the deal he was giving.
I passed the quote to my friends and they had to give affirmative.
It was an all budget package for us. With Raj frequently updating us with the itinerary. He
was polite, calm, prompt and to the point.
TIMELINE
26th Dec: Mysore
The flight was delayed and our day started too late from Mumbai domestic airport. We
reached Bangalore Airport somewhere around 2:30 -3:00 pm with a gentleman holding flier
of my name and still had a big smile on his face inspite the delay.
He gave me the plan for the whole journey and introduced us to the captain Mr.Manjunath,
fondly called ‘Manju’.
The traveller was very neat and well decorated with fancy interiors. Manju drove us from
Bangalore to Mysore and was our driver for the journey. He was polite, supportive, time
bound, helpful, skilled and diligent.
Though we were forcing him to take us to Mysore palace, with his superior experience and
prompt advice, we visited Vrindavan Garden same day else we could have missed it all.
Post visit to garden he dropped us at the Aishwarya suits, which we found a decent hotel to
spend the night. Amenities provided in hotel were up to the mark.
27th Dec: Mysore-Coorg
We visited Mysore Palace and St. Philomena’s Cathedral. He gave us time for shopping
Mysore Saree and Mysore Sandalwood despite the fact that we had to reach Coorg the same
day.
Manju made sure we feel refreshed with all snacks and tea breaks.
Finishing our lunch, we went to Abbey falls, Raja’s Seat-the famous sunset point.
As we returned to hotel we had dinner nearby.
28th Dec: OOTY
Manju took us to Tibetan Golden Temple.
He drove us to Tamilnadu from Karnataka. We did not take any break in between as we had
to reach ‘Madhumalai Forest Reserve’ within time due to his vigilance and quick-wittedness.
We spent around 1500 for 7 people.
Manju was so skilful that we felt really safe crossing 37 hair pin bends
Temperature dropped down as we climbed up the hill. At last we reached our hotel, ‘Hotel
Majestic Crown. The hotel had superb interiors, ample of space and royal bathroom.
Food was delicious.
29th Dec: Dodabetta
As we woke up around 6 am, we rushed to the hill station all chilled to 9 degrees. We could
see complete Ooty Valley.
We visited Tea Factory, Chocolate Factory and then went for boating in OOTY lake
We did play rifle shooting and archery there and spent almost 2 hours.
30th Dec/ 31st Dec: Road trip to Kodaikanal.
It was 6 hour’s journey we were going to have to reach Kodaikanal.
There we went to the resort named- The Pinnacle.
Resort seemed no less than a heaven from outside. When we reached reception, we were
told that we do not have any rooms booked for us. Resort sales team did cancel out our
booking due to no response from booking agent (MMT). Though we were asked to wait at
reception and resort manager was kind enough to let us have snacks at their restaurant We
called our agent Raj and told him about whole scenario and he chased from his end to get
things sorted for is. Raj kept us updated throughout and made the booking possible.
Things I liked:
Location- you can gaze at complete Kodaikanal city at sunsets and dense cloudes.
Dominos- Food was very expensive but by chance we saw a delivery guy standing at
reception. Who really saved us.
Things which disappointed me:
Rooms- They are pathetically smaller compared to their name. When you enter room, you
see a double bed and that’s it. It feels like that double bed is suffocating in that room. A big
NO if you have 3 people sharing room, you will end up crushing 3rd person sleeping on extra
bed.
Hotel at Coorg was little disappointment as it made us feel like we are staying at Shopping
Centre. Hotel had its own restaurant, which we all felt should be AVOIDED. All waiters
working there were confused about menu names and how really it tastes. Adding to it, food
tasted below average
Charges- Bonfire, they will charge you for every wood you will use. Food cost were high
compared to the quantity.
Unavailability of Wi-Fi
Most of menu items are unavailable.
Food Service is really slow
Rooms were no allotted properly keeping in mind the no of persons and extra bed.
We went there for NYE, and they served us sparkling wine 30ml only if we pay for dinner
buffet. It costed us around 450 per person. Food was good. That was a bonus for us only
because it was a NYE. You may not get it other time of the year.
We left the resort around 7 am to reach Bangalore airport by 7. Though we all were
exhausted, we went on hibernation with Manju driving us back safely. We reached airport
on time. Flight was as usual delayed for an hour. But overall it was a journey worth
cherishing.
