We have taken a package tour with Yes tourism for Sikkim and Bhutan. We had 2 days in gangtok, and 3 days in north Sikkim (includes Lachen, Lachung). In Bhutan we travelled to Thimphu, Punkha and Paro. Let’s start with the good things. Bhutan trip was nicely managed. Hotels were good and specially the driver was nice and friendly. He was very helpful and took us to all the sites in Bhutan without telling him the itinerary. He was also ready to stop when asked by us, so that we could capture beautiful and photographic landscapes when driving from place-to-place. Bhutan, was indeed a good experience.
Now let’s see where Yes tourism failed to provide good service. According to me maximum amount of our trip cost was for Gurudongmar lake and Yumthang valley visit and due to weather conditions we were not able to go either places. Ideally, Yes tourism should reimburse the amount for not taking to these sites, but they were not ready to decrease the amount at any cost. They had their reasons but they didn’t make sense to me. I would suggest all the people who are going to these places, please discuss alternate options and trip cost changes before the booking tour package. Next, the choice of drivers. The cab driver we got for north sikkim was not helpful at all. He was hurrying up on his last day and didn’t even allow us to enjoy the snow in Lachung or do porper sight seeing when driving through places. Even our driver from Gangtok who drove us to the Bhutan border, was throwing tantrums to stop at any sight seeing places, asking us to return in just 5mins. He was always in a hurry to drop us and return to Gangtok and this lead to a heated argument with him, which the spoiled our entire travel from Gangtok to Bhutan border. Yes tourism really should look into these aspects of the tour package. Afterall, we are indeed spending our hard earned money for some memorable time and if they cannot make it worth then it is no use.
Do visit Bhutan , its a nice place.
Make alternate plans for the places which are uncertain like gurudongmar lake, yumthang valley, tsongo lake etc.
