About Panchgani

Panchgani meaning the place of five hills is a famous tourist destination in Maharashtra and is loacted at an altitude of 1334m. It is vibrant and exotic withhilly terrains on one side and coastal plains on the other side. It was often used by the British as their summer resort. The air in Panchgani is highlyunadulterated and unspoilt and is one of the peculiar features of this spot. Panchgani is marked by cottages for people to spend their vacation in relaxation. The place comprises of buildings set in British architecture, Parsi houses and the boarding schools. The soothing effect of cool breeze slashing through thewoody regions is highly enticing. It has western species like poinsettia and silver oaks. it is marked by fresh air, lush green vegetation and panoramic views.

Pune railway station is 100 km away from the place. Pune which is 100km away offers the nearest airport and Panchgani is connected to major cities through road transportservices.
ATTRACTIONS IN PANCHGANI:
Rajpuri Caves are a significant tourist spot. The ancient caves are surrounded by many water ponds. According to the folklore taking bath in these kunds is relieving and destressing and cures from various ailments. Lord Karthikeya temple is the main attraction here.
Parsi point is a picnic point that lies on the Mahabaleshwar road. It offers panoramic views of exotic Dhom Dam backwaters and the lush green Krishna valley. Sydney Point is another exhilarating spot. The grandeur view of Wai village is eye catching.
Sherbaugh , a delightful and mesmerising landscape, is a valley in the quaint Panchgani. The unspoilt and clean land is home to many kinds of birds, rabbits,  turkeys and swans. Young children participate in various activities like clay pot making and sculpturing.
Tableland is touted as the second longest mountain plateau. This is a wide expanse of laterite rock and offers grand view of Panchgani hill station itself. One can get to see the enticing Rajpuri caves from here and the place is known as Devil's kitchen. Tableland offers protection from winds and heavy rains.
Wilson Point is located at a distance of 1 km from the city centre. It is also known as sunrise point. It is a bare rock within a plateau with three watch towers.
Pratapgarh Fort is situated at a distance of 24 km from Mahabaleshwar and was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji in 1656. It is situated at an elevation of 900mabove sea level and witnessed encounter between Shivaji and Afzal Khan. Goddess Bhawani temple is located within the fort.
Wai is famous for its seven ghats like Gangapuri, Madh Aali, Ganpati Aali, Dharmpuri, Brahman shahi, Ramdoh and Bhimkund. The city is in Satara District of Maharashtra. Many waterponds, water falls and hillocks are enclosed by these ghats.
Dhom dam is a tourist spot located 21 km from the place. For enjoying water activities tourists can hire scooter boats and speed boats.
Bhilar Waterfalls viewed during monsoons are the source of Kundali River.
Lord Karthikeya temple is thronged by devotees in large numbers during the Thaipooyam festival between January and February.
