There is a small Shiva temple built in front of a cave where Hiranyakeshi Uppam the river originates. It is an ancient temple and has been built many years ago. It is believed by the folklore that the temple has been constructed by a person who was himself a manifestation of Lord Shiva.  The temple is highly sacrilegious and peaceful. The cave has seven ponds inside and sunlight can reach only the last pond. Devotees flock to the temple in large numbers during Mahashivratri. The cave offers a dark view from inside and nobody goes on to explore it.
