About Baikkhali

Bakkhali is a small and beautiful town situated in West Bengal famous for its long stretches of clean and empty beaches. The beach is generally empty except thetourist season. Conclusively, this spot is solitary and the hard sands of the beach are ideal for walking and cycling. A popular tourist attraction is thecrocodile breeding centre. The place houses few species of deer. There is a temple of Banabibi which is a sanctimonious site and it can be accessed on a narrow path and passes through casuarino grove. Some of the hamlets located around the place are worth visiting. There is a small island called Jumbo Dwiparound the place and can be reached via boat. Sir Andrew Fraser Lieutinant Governor of Bengal contributed to the discovery of this place. He tried his best to make it more recognizable among public. A portion of the town is also known as Frasergunj. Wind mills are conspicuous in Frasergunj which generates power for locality. Fishing is the chief occupation of this place owing to salinity. This place is highly unspoilt and unaffected by overcrowding or pollution and is an ideal choice to relax and rejuvenate one's hearts and minds with tranquillity and serenity.

The nearest airport is Kolkatta and bus and train services connect Bakkhali to major cities in the State.
ATTRACTIONS:
One of the major attractions is a large uninhabited island called Sagar Island and in order to reach Sagar one has to drive from Bakkhali to Namkhana. The Gangasagar Mela attracts large number of tourists. This is a popular spot for birdwatching. The tourist attractions are the Sagar Marine Park and KapilMuni temple. Chimaguri Mudflat is another location that might entice the visitors. Mainly the Sagar Mela and the pilgrimage that happens in the southern tip of the Ganges delta is the highlight of this island.
Bakkhali water beach is a popular tourist spot in which water is gray and there is a mangrove forest situated near the beach. There is a famous crocodile park and one of the chief attractions include Bishshalakshmi Temple.
Visitors can access Jumbo Beach which is just 8 km from Bakkhali. This southern-most island  goes underwater for few months. Once it resurfaces, temporary dwellings are built by fishermen.  This is basically a Reserve Forest covering an area of 1950 hectares, which inhabits many water birds and covered by mangrove trees.
Henry's Island is 10 km away from Bakkhali and the beach is rocky and muddy. Some lodges and pisciculture project has been set up to attract tourists. Wild animalslike crocodile, pigs, deer and snakes are visible here. It is popular for birdwatching.
