Srisailam is an extremely popular hill town located on the picturesque settings on the banks of the river Krishna in Andhra Pradesh. It boasts of many ancient temples, a wild life sanctuary as well as a dam. It provides highly enticing panoramicviews of the surroundings. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva famously known as Sikhareswara Swamy temple. There is a famous Bhramarambha Mallikarjunaswamy Temple located on the southern banks of River Krishna situated at a height of 457m. It is considered to be one of the Jyotirlingas in the country. Another chief attraction is the Srisailam Dam with a length of 512m located across Krishna River and the Srisailam Wild life sanctuary with regal wild life. Nallama forest range with dense vegetation and rich flora and fauna lies close to Srisailam hills. Such luscious greenforests are considered ideal for trekking, hill climbing and nature walk.

The temple is located in a deep forest and is surrounded by lush greenery and abundant waterfalls. However, the path leading to the temple is a bit rough and only jeeps can go on it. Tip

The general practice before visiting Srisallam is that one must stop to have darshan of Sakshi Ganapati located nearby. The belief goes that Ganapati notes down the names of all the devotees that come here.
Things To DoAkkamahadevi Caves
The journey to the caves is itself a rewarding experience. You need to start from Patala Ganga, a place which can be reached by a rope way. From here, a boat ride will bring you to the caves. The sanctuary is located on the banks of the River Krishna, near Nagarjunasagar. This is the only tiger reserve in Andhra Pradesh. You can book your stay in any of the three rest houses that have 40 bed capacity. You can spot animals such as leopards, Indian pangolins, wild dogs, crocodiles, panthers, civets, and hyenas.
